As a Loan Funding and Settlement Processor I at Heritage Financial Credit Union, you'll play an essential role in ensuring loans are funded accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. Working closely with dealerships and lending professionals, you'll help create a smooth experience from approval to funding while making a meaningful impact on our members and business partners every day.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Loan Funding and Settlement Processor I is responsible for processing and funding consumer and indirect loan transactions while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service to internal and external partners. This position performs detailed document review, funding verification, loan boarding, and funding activities while maintaining required records and communicating with dealerships and internal lending staff to resolve documentation issues. Work is performed under general supervision following established policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process and fund consumer and indirect loans in accordance with established procedures, regulatory requirements, and service level expectations.
- Review dealer documentation and electronic contract packages for completeness, accuracy, and funding eligibility.
- Verify all funding conditions have been satisfied prior to loan disbursement.
- Process loan funding transactions through the loan origination system and core processing system.
- Board new loans and members into applicable systems prior to funding.
- Complete manual dealer funding transactions through online banking when required.
- Calculate and communicate Perfection of Interest (POI) requirements to dealerships as necessary.
- Upload insurance binders and required documentation to State National.
- Prepare and mail Welcome Member packets following loan funding.
- Perform quality control reviews of mailed and electronically contracted loan packages to ensure all required documentation has been received.
- Cross-reference loan documentation with loan origination system data to verify accuracy and completeness.
- Identify documentation deficiencies and ensure corrections are received before funding.
- Scan funded loan packets into the document imaging system for retention.
- Maintain complete and accurate loan files in accordance with record retention requirements.
- Monitor and respond to dealer emails, loan origination system comments, and funding inquiries throughout the day.
- Communicate funding delays and required documentation corrections to dealerships in a timely and professional manner.
- Respond to dealer phone calls, emails, and internal inquiries regarding loan status and funding requirements.
- Update underwriting e-tickets and loan comments with current funding information and documentation status.
- Coordinate with loan officers, underwriters, dealerships, and other internal departments to resolve documentation and funding issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Two-year college degree preferred, plus two years of loan processing experience; or a comparable combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE:
Strong knowledge of lending operations, loan funding processes, settlement procedures and indirect lending workflows. Ability to prepare executive level reporting and communicate operational performance effectively. Knowledge of Lending regulations, compliance requirements, and operational risk practices.
EXPERIENCE:
- 1-3 years of loan processing, lending operations, financial services, or related experience preferred.
- Experience with indirect lending or consumer loan funding is preferred.
- Experience managing operational SLAs, KPIs, and performance reporting.
- Experience developing and maintaining QC processes and operational controls.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Basic knowledge of consumer and indirect loan documentation and funding procedures.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify documentation discrepancies.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills when working with dealerships and internal business partners.
- Proficiency using loan origination systems, core banking systems, Microsoft Office applications, and document imaging software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive financial information.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
