Senior Manager, Portfolio Operations

About the role

Dyson's Delivery & Integration Office (DDIO) drives excellence in product delivery through governance, capability development and data-driven insight across Dyson's Product Development Portfolio. As portfolio complexity continues to increase, Portfolio Operations provides the visibility, operating standards, analysis and decision support required to enable effective portfolio management.

The Senior Manager, Portfolio Operations is responsible for operating and continuously improving Dyson's Portfolio Operations capability. The role translates portfolio data into actionable insight, enables Business Unit portfolio decision-making and ensures portfolio processes, reporting and governance operate effectively across the Product Development Portfolio.

Working as a key member of the Portfolio Operations & Resource Management leadership team, this role leads the day-to-day operation of the portfolio management capability, supports executive decision-making and drives the development of portfolio management methods, reporting and operating practices.

Accountabilities

Leadership & Capability Development

• Lead the development and continuous improvement of Dyson's Portfolio Operations capability.
• Execute and continuously improve the Portfolio Management Capability Strategy and associated roadmap.
• Develop and maintain portfolio management standards, processes, templates and guidance.
• Champion portfolio management across Business Units and functions, driving adoption and consistency.
• Lead the Portfolio Operations organisation, providing direction, coaching and development to Portfolio Operations and Portfolio Insight teams.
• Ensure operational delivery, governance coordination and analytical capability are effectively integrated to support enterprise decision-making.

Portfolio Operations & Executive Decision Support

• Operate the Product Development Portfolio management process across all Business Units.
• Coordinate portfolio reviews, ensuring decision-quality information is available to leadership teams.
• Operate the portfolio management cadence, ensuring timely reviews, escalations, decisions and follow-through actions across Business Units.
• Prepare portfolio recommendations, analysis and decision support materials for senior leadership forums.
• Facilitate portfolio prioritisation activities and develop recommendations for executive review.
• Develop portfolio scenarios and option analyses to support prioritisation, investment and delivery decisions.
• Manage the Product Delivery Meeting (PDM) process and associated portfolio governance activities.
• Identify and escalate portfolio risks, dependencies, constraints and opportunities.
• Enable whole portfolio decision-making through clear data, analysis, scenario evaluation and recommendations.

Portfolio Data, Insight & Reporting

• Own the execution and continuous improvement of portfolio reporting and portfolio insight.
• Define reporting requirements and work with Product Development Data Systems & Insights teams to deliver portfolio reporting solutions.
• Drive automation and simplification of portfolio reporting processes.
• Build portfolio analysis capability to identify trends, systemic risks, opportunities and delivery constraints.
• Develop executive-level portfolio reporting, dashboards and analytics.
• Convert portfolio data into actionable recommendations and decision options.

Change, Adoption & Stakeholder Management

• Support the rollout of new portfolio management capabilities, processes and tools.
• Develop communications, training and adoption activities that improve portfolio management maturity.
• Drive consistency in portfolio management practices across Business Units, NPD and NPI.
• Build strong relationships with Business Unit, RDD and DDIO stakeholders.
• Partner with Product Frameworks & Governance, Product Development Data Systems & Insights and Resource Management teams to deliver integrated portfolio management capability.

About you

Professional experience

• Significant experience in portfolio management, programme management, business planning or strategy execution within a complex organisation.
• Experience enabling senior leadership decision-making through reporting, analysis and recommendations.
• Experience developing and improving portfolio, programme or business management processes.
• Strong analytical capability with experience translating complex data into clear business insight.
• Experience working with multiple senior stakeholders across functions and geographies.
• Experience preparing executive reporting, recommendations and decision-support materials.
• Experience leading teams, delivering change and embedding new ways of working.
• Understanding of product development, portfolio management and organisational prioritisation.
