The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Valve Technician to join our Battle River Area operations team based in Stettler, AB.
Reporting to the Area Manager, Battle River Area, the Valve Technician will repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform other planned maintenance and corrective tasks on a variety of valves / actuators installed at compressor stations, meter stations and pipeline systems across the areas' natural gas transmission system.
This position is eligible for our domestic relocation program.
The regular work schedule for this position will be:
Week 1 – Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; 8 hours on Friday
Week 2 – Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; Friday off
What you’ll do
Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy’s Community, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures as well as accepted risk standards
Perform routine measurement maintenance
Perform inspections related to valve servicing, troubleshooting and repair (equipment such as actuators, valves and related components)
Perform OneCall activities, line locates, assist with all types of line crossings of TC Energy assets
Identify and manage encroachment issues
Perform emergency repairs to meet customer and client needs
Oversee the safe and efficient completion of projects
Oversight of contractors
Procure resources and manage within budgets for the facilities
Provide support to our business partners as required
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Relevant natural gas or energy industry experience
5+ years total related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Journeyman ticket in Instrumentation or 2 years of technical training from a recognized institution
Previous experience working with high pressure natural gas
Previous experience with maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of valves/actuators
Previous experience with line locating
SAP experience
This position requires candidates to:
Successfully complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (estimated up to 50% of work schedule)
Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required
