Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for a Lecturer of Human Health Sciences with a background in anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and/or introductory biology. This is a 12-month position with opportunities to pursue promotion through the lecturer career ladder. The primary location for this position is the Henderson campus. Teaching assignments are determined based on departmental and programmatic needs and may include courses at Nevada State University's North Las Vegas campus.

The selected candidate will join a dynamic and interdisciplinary team in the Department of Physical and Life Sciences, which supports Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Human Health Sciences. We hope to find a colleague with interest and potential to participate in interdisciplinary opportunities in curriculum development. As a Lecturer in the Human Health Sciences program, you will play a key role in integrating high-quality instruction and a supportive student learning experience in the School of Liberal Arts, Sciences, and Business.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Teach 30 credits per academic year, which typically includes 12 credits in fall, 12 credits in spring, and 6 credits in the summer. Teaching assignments are determined based on departmental and programmatic needs and may include courses at Nevada State University's North Las Vegas campus.
• Teach primarily lower-level courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Fundamentals of Life Science, and General Microbiology in an in-person format.
• Serve on departmental and university-wide committees.
• Engage in professional development activities.

Required Qualifications:

• M.S. or terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D.) in one of the following fields or a related field: Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, or Microbiology. Candidates who are ABD will be considered with the expectation that the degree will be completed by June 30, 2027.
• Evidence of a strong commitment to teaching, educational excellence, and mentoring undergraduate students.
• Demonstrated commitment to a diverse, non-traditional, first-generation student population.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, and technology skills.
• Offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of due diligence background check and verification of credentials.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Rank, Salary & Benefits:

12-month. Non Tenure Track. Budgeted salary for this position is $62,503.00. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 19.25% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
