Overview
Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an Aerospace Machinist, supporting TOS II, at Arnold AFB in Tullahoma, TN. The Aerospace Machinist will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for [e.g. operating and maintaining or supporting] the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.
The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift, and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will under general supervision perform technical, mechanical, electrical, and manual work in the testing, operating, and/or assembly and shop areas of an engineering test facility.
Supplementary Functions:
- Participation in functional specific safety training
- Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
- Must put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
Job Duties:
- Prepares test facility equipment for operations
- Prepares test articles for testing, install test articles, and checks installations
- Troubleshoots equipment, test articles, and installations in case of malfunctions
- Operates plant and test equipment during tests
- Assists in test and operates test articles such as controls for engines and rockets
- Removes test articles after tests
- Installs and maintains facility systems
- Accomplishes maintenance and servicing work required to place and keep test facility equipment in operation
- Uses a wide variety of hand and machine tools, powered equipment, measuring and testing equipment
- Instructs less experienced lower-lever grade craftsman
- It is a condition of employment to wear company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and Company Policy
- Perform other work as required
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Four years of machinist experience in the working section of an aeronautical test facility operation or six years of experience as an outside machinist, machinist, millwright, aircraft mechanic, or heavy equipment mechanic
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English to safely understand and execute technical manuals, technical drawings, diagrams, sketches, safety procedures, and operational instructions
- Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and satisfy requirements for access to the AEDC local area network
- Current U.S. Citizenship is required due to Department of Defense security and federal contract requirements at AEDC
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic and/or Advanced Rigging Training
- Active Secret clearance
- Ability to skillfully operate and work with the wide variety of hand and machine tools associated with trade
