Location:

Pay: $36.57–$56.68 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Schedule: Full-time | Eight-hour day shifts | Alternating weekends
Employment Type: Permanent, Direct-Hire Position

Position Summary

A healthcare organization in Lewes, Delaware, is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform diagnostic nuclear medicine, PET, and CT procedures. This position is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, producing high-quality diagnostic images, maintaining radiation-safety standards, and providing compassionate care throughout each examination.

The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of nuclear medicine equipment, understands radiopharmaceutical handling and quality-control requirements, and communicates clearly with patients, physicians, radiologists, and other clinical departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review imaging orders and consultation requests for accuracy and special instructions.
  • Consult with the radiologist or requesting physician when clarification is needed.
  • Confirm patient identity and explain examination procedures to patients and their families.
  • Perform in vivo and in vitro diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures according to established protocols.
  • Perform PET and CT-related imaging procedures within the technologist's training and credentials.
  • Prepare, calibrate, document, and administer radiopharmaceuticals through injection, ingestion, or inhalation.
  • Position patients appropriately and evaluate recorded images for technical and diagnostic quality.
  • Complete all required examination documentation and result-processing procedures.
  • Maintain accurate daily activity logs and radiopharmaceutical records.
  • Follow prescribed radiation-protection standards for patients, staff, and self.
  • Safely operate radiation-detection and nuclear medicine equipment.
  • Perform daily quality-assurance testing and visual preventive-safety inspections.
  • Identify equipment concerns and report problems promptly to departmental leadership.
  • Monitor department inventory and coordinate the ordering and storage of supplies.
  • Communicate supply shortages and special-order needs.
  • Recognize emergency situations and initiate appropriate code, first-aid, or CPR procedures.
  • Coordinate add-on examinations whenever possible to support timely patient access.
  • Verify accurate order entry and supply charging.
  • Follow department, infection-control, regulatory, and patient-safety standards.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program or equivalent.
  • Current ARRT certification in Nuclear Medicine — ARRT(N) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board credential — CNMT.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Education, training, or professional experience in computed tomography.
  • Education, training, or professional experience in positron emission tomography.
  • Ability to work full-time, eight-hour day shifts.
  • Availability to work alternating weekends.
  • Ability to prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety, quality assurance, and nuclear medicine imaging protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience performing PET/CT procedures.
  • Computed tomography certification or advanced CT training.
  • Experience in a hospital-based nuclear medicine department.
  • Strong patient-positioning and image-evaluation skills.
  • Experience conducting equipment quality-control and safety testing.
  • Strong communication, organization, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to manage routine examinations, add-on procedures, documentation, and inventory responsibilities efficiently.

Orientation and Training

The selected technologist must complete point-of-care testing training as part of the organization's general orientation program.
