Description

Safety Manager – Build the Safety Culture Behind Historic Restoration Work That Lasts Generation.

Home Base: Belvidere, IL (travel required)| Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–5:00 pm (Saturdays as required) | Reports to the COO/President.

Renaissance Historic Exteriors is looking for an experienced Safety Manager to lead safety across every jobsite we touch. You'll own the safety program end to end — training crews, auditing sites, tracking OSHA/DOT/EPA compliance, and investigating incidents — with the full backing of executive leadership. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role with a real seat at the leadership table, competitive pay, a company vehicle/travel program, and a clear path to build a best-in-class safety culture from the ground up.

About Us:
Our purpose is to elevate the lives of our people, using expertise and craftsmanship to preserve history. Our niche is custom historic restoration — the kind of skilled, detail-driven construction work that keeps landmark buildings standing for the next generation. We're built on five core values: Team Player, Problem Solver, Expertise, Craftsmanship, and Ethical. If you want your safety leadership to directly protect the people and craftsmanship behind that work, this is the team for you.

The Role:
As Safety Manager, you'll lead our safety culture and safety program across all active jobsites, reporting directly to the COO/President. You'll develop and maintain a comprehensive safety program, train and monitor field teams and partners, ensure regulatory compliance, investigate incidents, and act as a trusted advisor to leadership and production management on everything from scaffolding to equipment planning. Success in this role means zero injuries and claims, zero regulatory fines, and zero damage to clients.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously update a comprehensive company safety program.
  • Train team members and partners on safety procedures and habits, and monitor/correct performance in the field.
  • Perform ongoing, regular safety audits and provide Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reports for current and upcoming projects.
  • Track and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other state and federal regulations, sourcing and directing required training/certifications.
  • Investigate accidents and near-misses, determine root causes, and adjust policies and procedures to prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with leadership and production managers on scaffolding design & estimating, power-line abatement, material handling safety, logistics, and equipment planning.

What We're Looking For:
  • B.S./M.S. in Occupational Safety & Health.
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, OSHA 510, and OSHA 500 Trainer certifications.
  • Scaffolding – Competent Person certification.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.); app-savvy and digitally proficient.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Salaried Employee.
  • 2 weeks of Paid Time Off after 12 months of service (1 week after 6 months).
  • Incentive program, eligible after one year of continuous employment.
  • Mileage reimbursement or vehicle rental for travel.
  • Cell phone use reimbursement and laptop provided.
  • Holiday pay.
  • Health / Vision / Dental / Life Insurance.
  • 401(k) Program.

Why Join Us:
  • Lead safety strategy for a respected historic restoration company, reporting directly to the COO/President.
  • Real influence — you'll shape policy, not just enforce it.
  • Competitive salary plus performance and long-term incentive programs.
  • Company support for travel, phone, and technology.
  • Work that protects both people and craftsmanship on landmark restoration projects.
  • A leadership team that values Team Player, Problem Solver, Expertise, Craftsmanship, and Ethical conduct.

Equal Employment Opportunity:
Renaissance Historic Exteriors is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, age, genetic information, pregnancy, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
