Description
The Senior Technical Writer is an individual contributor role embedded at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and Customer Experience. The right person owns every piece of content that helps our Sales and customers understand, install, integrate with, and get value from Webfleet’s products — across hardware, software, and developer-facing APIs — from first draft through translation, publication, and ongoing maintenance. It is a high-scope, high-ownership role that requires equal comfort with structured authoring tools, developer documentation, project coordination, and stakeholder management. This position liases with complex stakeholders, vendors and marketing to drive the associated deliverables across the business into our product portfolio.
Here's a little taste of your challenge:
Product Content:
Product kits, posters, and box inserts (print-ready and digital formats), including in-box and online materials localised for all markets.
Version control and update cycles tied to product releases.
Maintain the Product Availability Matrix, ensuring quarterly accuracy.
User & Installation Guides:
Digital user guides for all hardware and software products.
Installation guides formatted for knowledge base and video library.
Maintenance and accuracy review on existing documentation.
Webfleet Release Communications:
Quarterly digital release calendar for customers and partners.
Release notes for hardware and software updates.
How-to and technical workflow content for end users.
API & OEM.connect Documentation:
Customer-facing API reference docs, integration guides, and changelogs.
OEM.connect documentation covering setup, configuration, and use cases.
Maintain accuracy as endpoints, and integration specs evolve.
Localization & Translations:
Manage the on-premise translations platform day-to-day.
Intake, route, and track all translation requests from internal teams on non- marketing projects.
Own vendor procurement, review cycles, and quality sign-off for product required translations.
Cross-Team Collaboration:
Embedded partner to Product and Engineering on all new releases.
Translate technical specs and changelogs into customer-ready language.
Coordinate content readiness as part of the release process.
Content Maintenance:
Keep all materials current as products evolve.
Audit and retire outdated content across all channels.
Ensure consistency across formats, markets, and languages.
Who are you:
5+ years technical writing for hardware or software products
Experience writing API and developer-facing documentation
Experience managing a TMS or localization platform
Proven ability to own a content calendar independently
Strong grasp of structured authoring (DITA, Markdown, or similar)
Excellent written English, comfortable reading engineering specs, API references, and changelogs
Strong Differentiators:
Experience with OEM or partner integration documentation
Experience with print-production workflows (packaging, inserts)
Background managing external translation vendors
Familiarity with knowledge base platforms (Confluence, Jira, etc.)
Exposure to video scripting or production coordination
Multilingual proficiency is a plus, not a requirement
How success is measured:
On-time delivery - content ships with the product, not after.
Translation accuracy - zero critical errors reaching market.
API doc quality - developer support tickets from doc gaps trend down.
Content freshness - all materials current within one release cycle.
Stakeholder satisfaction - Product & Engineering rate content as release-ready.
