Job Description Summary

A position as a Program Coordinator II is available in the Department of Health Sciences and Research in the College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina. The successful candidate will coordinate research studies focused on cognitive aging, Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and dementia. The candidate will serve as the lead psychometrist for clinical assessments conducted; responsibilities will include administering assessments, managing related materials and resources, and training study team members in assessment administration. The candidate will also provide guidance and expertise in the creation and maintenance of case report forms and research databases, as well as best practices for data management. Additionally, the role will include supervising and training junior-level coordinators.

Job Description

A position as a Program Coordinator II is available in the Department of Health Sciences and Research in the College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina. The successful candidate will coordinate research studies focused on cognitive aging, Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and dementia. The candidate will serve as the lead psychometrist for clinical assessments conducted; responsibilities will include administering assessments, managing related materials and resources, and training study team members in assessment administration. The candidate will also provide guidance and expertise in the creation and maintenance of case report forms and research databases, as well as best practices for data management. Additionally, the role will include supervising and training junior-level coordinators.


Job Duties:

  • 20% — Coordinate research studies focused on the cognitive aging process, MCI, and dementia, including recruitment, scheduling, and consenting, as well as conducting study procedures.

  • 20% — Conduct clinical assessments with research participants assessments.

  • 20% — Supervise junior-level program coordinators and train team members on study procedures and administration of clinical assessments.

  • 15% — Serve as a resource on the development and utilization of case report forms, create databases designed to effectively capture study data, develop and implement data quality control and quality assurance procedures; ensure compliance with study protocols, IRB, and institutional regulatory requirements.

  • 10% — Manage materials for clinical assessments as well as develop and maintain training manuals and standard operating procedures.

  • 5% — Prepare and present data at study team meetings

  • 5% — Engage in practices to safeguard the rights and well-being of vulnerable populations

  • 5% — Provide assistance with grant proposals, study design, and organizing study results (Essential)

Preferred Experience and Additional Skills: Master’s degree in psychology or a closely related clinical discipline. At least 1 year work experience as a psychometrist, and at least 3 years of experience working in program coordination. Prior clinical research experience and certification as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC). Experience working with older adults with and without cognitive impairment. Prior experience as s psychometrist in both clinical and research neuropsychological settings.


Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Prior success with independently setting up databases and creating case report forms in REDCap.

Minimum Requirements:  A bachelor's degree and two years of relevant program experience.

(Infrequent) Ability to lower objects, up to 15 lbs., from height of 36 inches to floor level, unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to push/pull objects, up to 15 lbs., unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand. (Frequent) Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance. (Frequent) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Frequent) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Frequent)
