What Will You Do as a PTA?

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you'll work under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients improve their strength, mobility, balance, endurance and overall functional independence.

Your day may include:

• Carrying out individualized physical therapy treatment plans
• Helping patients improve strength, balance, transfers, gait and functional mobility
• Providing therapeutic exercise and functional activities
• Assisting patients with safe use of walkers and other assistive devices
• Monitoring patient response to treatment and communicating changes to the supervising Physical Therapist
• Educating patients, families and caregivers on mobility and safety strategies
• Collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team
• Documenting treatments and patient progress accurately and timely
• Encouraging patients through the victories—both big and small—that happen throughout rehabilitation

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current or eligible Pennsylvania Physical Therapist Assistant license
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a Physical Therapist and interdisciplinary care team
• Skilled nursing, geriatric or rehabilitation experience is a plus, but not required
• New graduate PTAs are encouraged to apply
