Our client is seeking an Intermediate Accountant for a 12-month term to join their collaborative finance team within the business services group. This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure to a complex, multinational environment while supporting core accounting functions and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 2 years of experience performing full-cycle accounting, supported by a bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent practical experience. Active progression toward completion of the CPA (with plans to write the CFE within the next 12 months), is required. You will demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to consistently meet tight deadlines, particularly during month-end and quarter-end close cycles. Highly organized and adaptable, you are comfortable managing competing priorities within a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, applying sound professional judgment under pressure, along with clear and effective communication abilities. Proficiency in MS Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUPs and pivot tables, is essential, along with the ability to quickly learn new financial systems. Familiarity with IFRS and/or US GAAP and experience working within publicly listed organizations in Canada or the U.S is highly desirable. This role requires a high level of flexibility, including the ability to work additional hours during peak periods, and a commitment to working on-site a minimum of four days per week to support collaboration and team effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for a portfolio of entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reporting
- Prepare and post general journal entries and maintain complete and accurate financial records, including ledgers, registers, and supporting documentation
- Perform detailed general ledger reconciliations and investigate variances, including intercompany balances and chargeback discrepancies
- Analyze financial results through balance sheet and income statement variance analysis, providing insights to support decision-making
- Prepare and contribute to internal financial reporting packages for management review
- Account for property, plant, and equipment (PPE) transactions, including additions, disposals, and maintenance of construction-in-progress (CWIP) and fixed asset schedules
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders
- Support external audit processes, including preparation of schedules and responding to auditor requests
- Research and apply appropriate accounting treatments for routine transactions in accordance with applicable standards
- Maintain and enhance financial reporting documentation, ensuring processes are clearly defined and up to date
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and support the design and implementation of more efficient workflows
- Execute internal control procedures and ensure compliance with established policies and governance frameworks
