Job Summary
The Maintenance Helper supports the Maintenance team by assisting with basic repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance tasks across the facility. This role is ideal for someone developing their technical skills and eager to learn mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and fabrication work in a high‑performance aerospace manufacturing environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with maintenance tasks by following written instructions or verbal direction from Mechanics, Leads, or the Manager.
- Support preventive maintenance on machinery, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production equipment.
- Help identify equipment issues by observing machines in operation and reporting unusual sounds, movements, or conditions.
- Perform basic measurements using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other common shop instruments.
- Support plumbing and pipe work including installation, maintenance, and simple repairs on water, steam, gas, air, and sewage systems.
- Help fabricate sheet metal parts and fixtures using hand tools and basic shop equipment.
- Perform simple system tests on equipment before release for operation, using proper tools and checklists.
- Review completed work for accuracy and neatness; complete basic documentation and maintenance records.
- Follow housekeeping and safety practices to maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment.
- Support senior mechanics by preparing tools, gathering materials, and assisting with more complex repairs or projects. Work following written instructions or verbal directions from Manager/Lead.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of general maintenance, mechanical, or industrial experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems; exposure to hydraulics, pneumatics, or electrical systems is a plus.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Willing to learn Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Team‑oriented, dependable, and able to follow direction with minimal supervision.
