Teph Seal "Auto Appearance", a privately-held company, operates detail/reconditioning centers in auto dealerships across the United States. We are experiencing rapid growth with revenues in excess of $50 million and over 1,500 employees working in 26 states. We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, forecast preparation, as well as the maintenance and strengthening of internal controls.  The Financial Controller is an active, hands-on team member who will report directly to the CFO and be a key resource as the company continues to expand its scope and revenues.  Our current Controller is retiring and will assist in the transition process.

Responsibilities

• • Responsible for all internal and external financial reporting
  • Maintaining effective system of internal accounting controls including addressing any identified control weaknesses.
  • Applying GAAP to business transactions for proper external financial reporting.
  • Providing internal management reporting and forecasts for cash flow.
  • Manage a team responsible for monthly GL closing and reporting activities.
  • Planning and coordinating with external audit and tax compliance providers.
  • Management of transactional Accounting functions (AP/AR/GL/Payroll)
  • Critically evaluating and continuously improving business processes
  • Staff training, development, and succession planning
  • Management of various state registrations and ensuring compliance with state and local taxing authorities for all taxes.
  • Managing cash to achieve cash flow targets.
  • Constant attention to financial data and business trends to keep company leadership informed of significant financial issues.

Qualifications

 

• Bachelors in Accounting required with CPA preferred; strong GAAP knowledge.
• 10 years Accounting experience with at least 5 in a Management capacity preferably with a labor intensive organization.

• Experience with internal and external financial reporting

• Experience interfacing with auditors, banks, and insurers.

• Experience with tax compliance for various state, local, federal, and foreign country taxes including sales and use, property, payroll, and income taxes. Coordinate with an outside CPA firm in their preparation of income tax returns.

• Must have an interest in learning the business, products/services, customers, and markets to provide context for the financial figures being reported.

• Ability to analyze data and trends to propose and support actions for improving company profitability.

• Computer/technical skills to include very strong Excel skills plus extensive hands on experience with one of the major ERP systems (Oracle/SAP/MS Dynamics, etc) and the ability to troubleshoot and understand system transactions.

• Confident personality capable of enforcing company policy and changing business processes to improve efficiency and control.

• Strong leadership and effective problem solving skills a must.
• Must be able to work some reasonable hours outside normal business hours during busy times of month end and year end audits.
