Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Director, Application Project Delivery to oversee and optimize the execution of technology and application initiatives across the County of San Diego account. This leader will ensure projects meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations while maintaining a strong client-focused delivery culture. This senior leader will ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget -while maintaining the highest standards of quality, client satisfaction, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking, results-driven professional who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments and is passionate about driving innovation and excellence in delivery execution.
As a trusted advisor to both Peraton and County leadership, the Director will shape strategic direction, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This role will work directly with client leadership on escalations and continuous improvement efforts.
Day to Day Work Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Lead a delivery organization managing 80–100 concurrent IT projects across diverse County of San Diego departments.
- Align delivery strategies with organizational goals and contractual commitments in collaboration with executive leadership and client stakeholders.
- Drive operational efficiency, service excellence, and measurable business outcomes.
Operational Oversight
- Ensure consistent application of project management methodologies within a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Monitor key performance metrics to include schedule, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction while proactively addressing risks or deviations.
- Lead governance, reporting, and risk management activities to maintain transparency and compliance.
Financial and Resource Management
- Manage the financial health of the project delivery organization, including forecasting, budgeting, and margin optimization.
- Partner with HR and Finance to align staffing, training, and resource allocation with evolving program demands.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for County leadership regarding delivery performance, escalations, and continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and Peraton leadership.
- Support business development, transitions, and proposals by demonstrating delivery excellence and technical capability
People and Performance Leadership
- Lead and mentor a high‑performing team including architects, project managers, business analysts, and developers, fostering accountability and growth.
- Promote a culture of innovation, empowerment, and collaboration.
- Identify and develop emerging leaders to strengthen long‑term organizational capability.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 16 years of professional experience
- 8+ years of progressive project management experience, including 5+ years in a leadership or director level role
- Proven success delivering large, complex, cross-functional projects
- Experience managing project portfolios and leading high-performing teams
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency (Green Card holders) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Certifications: PMP or PfMP or PMI ACP
- Demonstrated success with five or more years in senior management or director-level role overseeing cross-functional technology delivery teams.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or ServiceNow
- Strategic and tactical thinker with a daily focus on driving results
