Spends majority of time on the production floor working alongside operators, supervisors, and maintenance teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Value Stream Mapping: Create current-state and future-state VSMs to trace material and information flows, highlighting waste and non-value-added steps.
Standard Work: Develop, implement, and maintain clear standard work procedures, standard labor hours, cycle times, and takt times.
Process Optimization: Conduct time and motion studies, perform line balancing, and reconfigure workstation layouts.
Waste Elimination: Lead Kaizen events and problem-solving projects (such as 5S and root-cause analysis) to boost throughput.
Cross-Functional Training: Train shop-floor operators and team leaders on new standard work routines and continuous improvement tools
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Measure and evaluate production costs, production thru-put, and evaluate against standards.
- Evaluate the sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization.
- Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product.
- Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
- Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, or minimize costs.
- Confer with clients, vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, product and production specifications, manufacturing capabilities, or project status.
- Evaluate precision and accuracy of production and testing equipment and engineering drawings to formulate corrective action plan.
- Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency using drafting tools and computer programs.
- Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
