Overview
The Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) – Overground Stations will support the Resident Engineer in overseeing the construction, testing, commissioning, and handover of elevated and at-grade metro station structures and associated architectural, civil, structural, MEP, and rail interface works. The role ensures that all works are executed in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, contract requirements, quality standards, safety regulations, and client expectations.
Your role
Construction Supervision
- Assist the Resident Engineer in managing the supervision of overground metro station construction works.
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project schedules.
- Supervise station-related civil, structural, architectural, and MEP works during all phases of construction.
- Review construction methodologies and ensure adherence to approved work procedures.
- Coordinate site inspections and verify that works are completed according to contractual requirements.
Quality Assurance & Control
- Ensure implementation of project Quality Management Systems and inspection procedures.
- Review and witness inspections, testing activities, and material approvals.
- Monitor NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), corrective actions, and close-out processes.
- Verify compliance with applicable international standards, local regulations, and client requirements.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Promote a strong safety culture across the project site.
- Ensure compliance with project HSE plans, permit-to-work systems, and Dubai/UAE regulations.
- Participate in site safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
- Monitor contractor implementation of environmental and sustainability requirements.
Interface & Coordination
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, architecture, MEP, systems, track, utilities, roads, and traffic specialists.
- Support management of interfaces between station works and adjacent infrastructure packages.
- Liaise with contractors, stakeholders, utility authorities, and client representatives to resolve site issues effectively.
- Participate in technical and progress meetings.
Contract Administration
- Assist in reviewing contractor submissions including shop drawings, method statements, RFIs, material submittals, and work inspection requests.
- Support verification of completed works for progress measurements and payment applications.
- Monitor variations, claims, and contractual compliance issues and provide recommendations to the Resident Engineer.
Testing & Commissioning
- Support testing and commissioning activities related to station systems and building services.
- Verify readiness of station assets for integrated testing and operational handover.
- Participate in snagging, de-snagging, and final acceptance inspections.
Reporting
- Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly site progress reports.
- Maintain records of inspections, technical issues, site instructions, and construction activities.
- Highlight risks, delays, quality concerns, and mitigation measures to the Resident Engineer.
About you
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineering certification is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 10-15 years of overall experience in construction supervision and project delivery.
- At least 5 years of experience on metro, rail, transit, or major transportation infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience supervising elevated or overground station construction works.
- GCC/UAE experience is highly preferred.
- Previous experience with PMC/Engineer/Consultant organizations is desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of station structures, architectural finishes, and MEP integration.
- Good understanding of rail project interfaces and operational requirements.
- Knowledge of FIDIC contract conditions.
- Familiarity with testing, commissioning, and handover processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
