Position Summary
WhiteWater is seeking a motivated and analytical Commercial Operations Intern to join our growing Commercial Operations team in Austin, Texas. This internship offers hands-on experience to the commercial operational activities that support a natural gas midstream business.
The intern will work alongside Commercial Operations professionals on projects involving commercial agreements, pipeline operations, scheduling coordination, business systems, data quality, reporting, and process improvement. This role is designed to build practical knowledge of the midstream industry while giving the intern meaningful opportunities to contribute to day-to-day work and team initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop a foundational understanding of WhiteWater’s natural gas midstream operations, commercial activities, customers, and internal workflows.
- Support the Commercial team in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and executing transportation, interconnect, balancing, and other related commercial agreements.
- Assist with reviewing contractual terms, commercial requirements, and agreement documentation.
- Learn pipeline scheduling processes and support coordination of customer activities, as appropriate.
- Partner with team members to manage priorities, solve problems, and help implement newly negotiated agreements.
- Gain hands-on experience with Quorum pipeline scheduling applications and other business systems used by Commercial Operations.
- Participate in requirements gathering, process mapping, design, testing, and development of tools that improve team efficiency.
- Review data configurations within Quorum applications and related systems that support daily reporting.
- Verify data integrity, investigate discrepancies, and assist in resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Extract, organize, analyze, and present data to support recurring and ad hoc reports.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and contribute ideas for practical operational improvements.
- Participate in training, team meetings, and field visits when available.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, finance, economics, accounting, engineering, supply chain, energy management, information systems, or a related field.
- Strong interest in the natural gas midstream sector and/or business analytics.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, high-quality work.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Professional judgment and the ability to handle sensitive business information with discretion.

Compensation and Benefits
This position is a full-time, in-office internship based in Austin, Texas, with an expectation of working in the office 2–3 days per week.
