Description
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Provide instruction in accordance with approved Imperial Valley College curriculum and established course outlines and as assigned based on the needs of the college.
Assignments are based upon availability of classes, seniority, and qualifications not limited to conducting classes, class preparation, student evaluation, course syllabus, assessing and evaluating student learning outcomes, and other related duties.
Maintain and submit accurate records according to published deadlines (i.e., grades, syllabi, attendance reports).
Responsibilities also include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.
Advise students on academic matters.
Maintain competency in the field.
Possession of an associate degree, plus four years of occupational experience in the subject matter area to be taught;
OR
Six years of occupational experience in the subject matter to be taught, a journeyman’s certificate in the subject matter area to be taught, and completion of at least twelve
(12) semester units of apprenticeship or college level course work. The twelve (12) semester unit requirement may be satisfied concurrently during the first two years of employment as an apprenticeship instructor.
OR
Six years of occupational experience in the subject matter to be taught, and a minimum of ten years of experience as an apprenticeship instructor for the California Department of Industrial Relations Division of Apprenticeship Standards.
AND
Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (AB 1725, 87360a).
An applicant may qualify for this position by having education and experience equivalent to the listed degrees. To be considered for equivalency, the candidate must submit college transcripts and a complete description of work experience with his/her application.

Failure to do so, may result in a disqualification of your application. It is the applicants' responsibility to submit the completed equivalency form.
