Description
The Communication Studies program at Allan Hancock College is seeking applications to develop a qualified pool of part-time faculty for in-person instructional vacancies. The assignment may include classes at the Santa Maria campus, Lompoc Valley Center, and/or high school locations for College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) classes as needed. Positions may be available during the fall, spring, or summer sessions.
The teaching assignment will include one or more courses offered in Public Speaking, Communication Studies, and Small Group Communication. Other courses offered in limited sections, might include Interpersonal Communication, Oral Interpretation of Literature, Argumentation and Debate, Intercultural Communication.
Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
Teach all scheduled classes.
Maintain accurate records.
Assignments may include day, evening, or weekend classes.
Knowledge of the college's Learning Management System (Canvas) is preferred.
Evidence sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomical, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and abilities of staff and students.
Master’s in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication or organizational communication
OR
Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in drama/ theater arts, mass communication or English OR the equivalent

Salary Information:
• Lecture Rate: $56.46 to $86.44 per hour, depending upon education and experience?
• Lab Rate: $49.17 to $75.26 per hour, depending upon education and experience
• Activity Rate: $36.33 to $56.69 per hour, depending upon education and experience
