Description

Overview

LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI brings commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready AI to federal agencies at commercial speed.

Cadence is LMI’s emerging program-management product for federal agencies. It brings requirements, work, dependencies, delivery performance, and decision-ready status into one operating view—helping program teams move beyond fragmented Planner, Jira, Asana, spreadsheets, and briefing-driven management.

We are looking for a Technical Product Owner to take Cadence from its initial pilot into a scalable federal product. You will assume product ownership at the conclusion of the paid pilot, lead its technical evolution within LMI’s Sales Engineering team, and drive the commercial work required to make Cadence successful across the federal market.

This is not a backlog-only product-owner role. You will own the full product lifecycle: understanding users, setting the product vision, leading delivery, defining the architecture and deployment approach, building the market case, shaping pricing and ROI, leading demos, and helping win customers.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Own Cadence’s transition from the initial pilot into a repeatable, market-ready federal product. Establish the product vision, roadmap, release plan, backlog, and success measures.
  • Lead a small technical team within Sales Engineering. Translate customer needs into clear epics, user stories, technical requirements, priorities, and acceptance criteria; guide sprint planning, delivery, and product quality.
  • Spend time with federal program managers, mission owners, and delivery teams to understand how they actually manage work today: fragmented task systems, cross-team dependencies, status reporting, decision cycles, and the burden of reconciling inputs into an integrated picture.
  • Identify the common problems Cadence can solve across DoD and civilian agencies, distinguish reusable product capabilities from customer-specific configuration, and turn that learning into a scalable product roadmap.
  • Define Cadence’s technical architecture and integration strategy. Determine how it should connect to customer environments and systems such as Microsoft 365/Power Platform, Planner, Jira, ServiceNow, data platforms, mission applications, and agency-specific workflows.
  • Shape the federal deployment strategy, including FedRAMP, DoD Impact Levels, Platform One or related hosting paths, RMF/ATO requirements, security controls, identity and access management, data handling, and integration constraints.
  • Build the commercial case for Cadence. Define target customers and use cases, pricing and packaging, implementation approach, customer ROI, value proposition, and the path from pilot to enterprise adoption.
  • Partner across LMI with sales, account teams, capture, delivery, platform teams, security, and leadership to identify opportunities, develop customer-specific solutions, and convert demand into revenue.
  • Lead Cadence demos, discovery sessions, and technical discussions with customers. Clearly explain the product’s value to both program leadership and technical stakeholders.
  • Establish product measures that matter: customer adoption, time saved, reduced reporting and coordination burden, delivery predictability, SLA performance, pipeline growth, pilot conversion, revenue, and customer expansion.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience in product management, product ownership, technical program management, solution architecture, or a similar role delivering software products.
  • Demonstrated ability to own a product from customer discovery through delivery, adoption, and growth—not just manage a development backlog.
  • Strong product judgment and user empathy. You can understand the daily reality of a government program manager and turn fragmented work, dependencies, status reporting, and decision needs into a clear product experience.
  • Experience leading agile technical teams and managing product backlogs, roadmaps, releases, tradeoffs, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Commercial instinct and sales leadership. You can define a value proposition, calculate customer ROI, develop pricing and packaging, lead demos, and help close business alongside account and Sales Engineering teams.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to lead architecture and implementation discussions with engineers, security teams, and customer technical stakeholders. You can translate customer needs into requirements without losing sight of the product strategy.
  • Experience with federal software deployment, including RMF, ATO processes, FedRAMP, DoD security requirements, Platform One or comparable accredited environments, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Ability to operate with autonomy in an ambiguous, early-stage product environment while bringing structure, decisions, and momentum.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance required; active Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience commercializing a federal software product or turning a customer-funded pilot into a repeatable offering.
  • Background as a software engineer, systems engineer, solution architect, or technical lead.
  • Experience in government program management, portfolio management, logistics, acquisition, readiness, installation management, or other complex mission operations.
  • Experience with user research, workflow mapping, human-centered design, and product analytics.
  • Experience building SaaS, low-code/no-code, workflow-management, portfolio-management, or enterprise dashboard products.
  • Experience with cloud authorization, continuous ATO, DevSecOps, and deployment across both DoD and civilian-agency environments.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first year, the Technical Product Owner will have:

  • Taken ownership of Cadence following the initial pilot and converted the product into a clear, prioritized, customer-informed roadmap.
  • Built and led a small, effective technical team that delivers a reliable and usable product on a regular cadence.
  • Validated Cadence’s repeatable value proposition across multiple federal customers and use cases.
  • Defined its deployment, security, integration, pricing, packaging, and ROI strategy.
  • Led compelling customer demonstrations and solution conversations that contribute directly to new pipeline and wins.
  • Established Cadence as a commercial LMI product with a credible path to expansion, repeat sales, and long-term customer adoption.

Target salary range: $145,000 - 220,000
