Overview:
We are seeking a driven and strategic Head of Business & Corporate Banking to join our Hong Kong Branch. In this leadership role, you will accelerate asset and revenue growth by aggressively building the SME, Mid-Cap, and corporate portfolios. Leading a lean, high-velocity team, you will drive local market share by acquiring new clients and delivering fast-response financing solutions while managing risk and compliance.
Responsibilities
Functional Responsibilities:
Drive aggressive client acquisition and pipeline development to rapidly scale the branch's loan book, deposit base, and fee income across SME, Mid-Cap, and large corporate segments.
Structure and pitch tailored trade finance, lending, and treasury solutions, ensuring quick turnaround times from origination to drawdown to capture market opportunities.
Balance high-growth portfolio building with robust credit risk assessment, ensuring new asset quality remains within acceptable risk appetites.
Design and execute targeted commercial campaigns and performance tracking systems to optimize salesforce conversion rates and maximize asset growth.
Managerial & Strategic Alignment:
Lead, mentor, and upskill a team of Relationship Managers and Assistant Relationship Managers, driving their focus toward proactive market origination, rapid onboarding, and portfolio maximization.
Instill a culture of high integrity and strict compliance, ensuring swift, compliant execution of new business without compromising regulatory standards.
Proactively collaborate with Head Office and overseas offices to capture cross-border business opportunities and convert inward corporate referrals into local portfolio assets.
Partner closely with internal risk, operations, and compliance teams to eliminate operational bottlenecks and accelerate client service delivery.
Skills & Experience We Are Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Banking, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline, with a professional level qualification under the Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) preferred.
Minimum 12–15 years of commercial/corporate banking experience in Hong Kong, with a proven track record of successfully building SME, Mid-Cap, or corporate portfolios.
At least 5 years in a team leadership role within a fast-paced environment.
Deep understanding of the Mid-Cap and SME commercial landscape in Hong Kong, with an established network to drive immediate origination.
Advanced credit analysis capabilities to safely structure and onboard high-value commercial and corporate borrowers, supported by a solid baseline understanding of commercial bank accounting and financial frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to operate with high urgency, delivering rapid turnarounds on credit proposals alongside fluency in English and proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin).
