Job Description Summary

Under limited supervision, uses advanced knowledge and skills obtained through experience and/or training provide support in specific trading activities within an assigned functional area. Established procedures and prescribed guidelines are provided to perform a variety of tasks requiring some evaluation, originality or ingenuity in making routine decisions. Serves as a resource to others in resolving complex problems and issues. Extensive contact with internal and external customers is required to identify, research, and resolve problems.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains and updates the security master, utilizing data from appropriate databases.
• Queries appropriate databases to supply research or resolve issues.
• Receives, reviews, and executes trade orders.
• Identifies situations in which trade orders result in an account overdraft, excess cash, or change in account objective.
• Contacts internal and external customers to confirm trade instructions.
• Notifies Financial Advisors regarding Mutual Fund and Separately Managed Account downgrades.
• Notifies Financial Advisors of upcoming maturities.
• Notifies Financial Advisor upon completion of annual review.
• Provide and verify performance data.
• Prepares the monthly Trust Investment Committee (TIC) agenda reporting on account reviews.
• Conducts the weekly rebalancing and executes trading for the Charitable Endowment Fund (CEF).
• Completes the quarterly Board reports for the Charitable Endowment Fund.
• Completes annual review for less complex trust accounts.
• Contacts Financial Advisor if any investment policies are violated.
• Collaborates with Financial Advisor to make the necessary portfolio adjustments in order to comply with investment policies.
• Assist analyst teams in managing the RJ Trust Mutual Fund Model portfolios.
• May provide training, coaching and mentoring to less experienced associates.
• Provides and coordinates pricing information until the order has been executed, cancelled or expired.
• Ensures that trades are executed and confirmed in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Reviews trade problem research results and determines appropriate corrective action.
• Contacts internal and external customers to resolve trading problems.
• Resolves comparison issues and assists in the portfolio allocation process.
• Serves as lead person for audit requests related to investment activity and prepares documentation on investment activity for internal and external auditors.
• Accepts, screens and routes telephone calls and maintains record of inquiries, as required.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge of:

• Understanding of different security types and how they are traded.
• Understanding of investment management and asset allocation principles.
• Industry regulations related to trading activities.
• Concepts, practices and procedures of securities trading.
• Basic investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry.
• Accounting principles and procedures.
• Front-end system used in assigned functional area and its relationship with account history.
• Utilization of numerous trading platforms.
• Mathematical procedures required to verify and reconcile trading transactions.

Skill in:

• Identifying financial events that effect orders
• Reconciling and correcting transactions.
• Updating and maintaining information systems.
• Handling a high volume phone system.
• Operating standard office equipments and using required software applications, sufficient to create documents, spreadsheets, and business correspondence.

Ability to:

• Lead the work of other and provide training, coaching and mentoring.
• Work under pressure on multiple tasks concurrently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
• Read, interpret, analyze and apply transaction information.
• Analyze and solve problems.

Licenses/Certifications:

• SIE Required
• Series 7 highly preferred

Education

Bachelor’s: Accounting, Bachelor’s: Business Administration, Bachelor’s: Finance

s7 - General Securities Representative Examination - Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), Securities Industry Essentials Exam (SIE) - Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA)
