Every day, you will have an opportunity to shape the way in which Canadians see themselves reflected. Your work will have a direct impact on how millions of Canadians from various communities connect with our CBC Entertainment properties, with one another, and with the diverse voices that make our country so unique.

When you join our mission, you are not only shaping the vision of the CBC, but the future of our country.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for an experienced, analytical, and highly collaborative social media expert to join the social media strategy team in our CBC Entertainment division.

In this role, you will act as a strategic advisor, standards bearer, and key connector across our Entertainment teams.

Working collaboratively across many units in the division, you will  suggest strategy, guidelines and best practices across social media teams, including CBC Gem, Arts, Life, Music, Books, Sports, Podcasts, Kids and other entertainment properties.

This role has an impact on ensuring our strategies and efforts will contribute to our goals and KPIs of reaching and engaging Canadian audiences, ensuring CBC’s relevance with new and existing audiences.

The successful candidate may also work on the department’s behalf to represent CBC during interactions with third-party social media companies and partners.

  • Perform routine audits of account health, strategic direction, and compliance to ensure the highest calibre of content, ideal distribution schedules, and rigorous alignment with digital accessibility requirements, including alt-text and captioning.

  • Analyze shifts in platform algorithms, providing practical guidance for the enhancement of our social media offerings.

  • Conduct thorough examinations of platform data and account metrics to provide detailed reports, strategic recommendations, and comparative performance analysis against industry peers.

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and oversight of unified strategic frameworks, specialized content calendars, and templates.

  • Assist in maintaining the Entertainment Social Media Portal, guaranteeing consistent round-the-clock availability of guidelines, best practices, assets, templates and many more resources.

  • Serve as a custodian for brand integrity, editorial excellence, and adherence to digital policies across our social ecosystem.

  • Coordinate cross-departmental communities of practice specifically focused on platform ecosystems (e.g., Meta, TikTok).

  • Conceptualize and deliver bespoke educational courses and skill-building modules for social media editors and digital producers across the corporation.

  • Cultivate and sustain collaborative partnerships among core digital units, marketing, communications, legal, and revenue-focused divisions.

  • In collaboration with Media Solutions, advise on the creation of impactful sales and sponsorship opportunities for our partners.

  • Act as a liaison for independent content creators, outside production houses, marketing agencies, platform partners, and SaaS technology providers.

THE CANDIDATE
