Description
Evolito’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace applications in support of a net-zero world. We will help to revolutionise personal mobility and transform our towns and cities with clean, noise-free air transportation.
Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation.
As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join the team to design, develop and verify control electronics for electric propulsion systems. We are looking for candidates with experience developing electronic hardware for aerospace applications or equivalent experience in other safety-critical industries.
Key responsibilities will include:
Engineer and implement control electronics for high-voltage inverter systems supporting electric propulsion applications
Design mixed-signal electronics incorporating microcontrollers, sensor interfaces, monitoring and protection functions
Develop electronics and communication interfaces to support robust aircraft integration
Design low-voltage power supply systems
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Software and Mechanical Engineers, to deliver fully integrated solutions
Own electronics work packages from requirements capture and architecture development through detailed design, implementation, verification and release
Make and document technical decisions and trade-offs within the delegated area of responsibility, ensuring that safety, certification, performance, manufacturability and product lifecycle considerations are addressed
Lead electronics design reviews ensuring that technical risks are addressed
Lead structured investigations into hardware failures and non-conformances, establish root cause, define corrective and preventive actions, and verify their effectiveness
Establish and maintain bidirectional traceability between allocated requirements, design implementation, analyses and verification evidence
Contribute to production, review and maintenance of applicable DO-254 hardware lifecycle data and compliance evidence such as design descriptions, analysis and test reports
Skills and experience required:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent demonstrable industrial experience
Previous proven experience in electronics design, including experience in developing electronic hardware for aerospace or another safety-critical industry
Strong understanding of requirements-based development, hardware requirements capture, design assurance, verification evidence and problem reporting
Experienced with mixed-signal control electronics design
Previous experience of modelling, simulation and analysis of electronic circuits using SPICE simulation tools such as LTSpice or Simetrix
Proficiency in professional ECAD software for schematic capture and PCB layout
Strong working knowledge of Altium Designer
Experience performing and documenting design assurance analyses including worst-case error, tolerance, component electrical and thermal stress analysis and assessment of results against allocated requirements and design limits
Working knowledge of designing for EMC compliance and best practices
Familiarity with Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles
Familiarity with aerospace hardware development and environmental qualification standards, including DO-254 and DO-160, or equivalent standards from another safety-critical industry, is expected
Hands-on experience with electronics design verification, fault diagnosis and use of lab equipment such as oscilloscope, function generator, impedance analyser etc
Experienced in generating technical documentation for project milestones and regulatory approval such as design descriptions, interface definitions and analysis reports
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), good collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively across teams
Strong problem-solving skills coupled with a structured analytical approach
A 'self-starter' attitude with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
Ability to work under pressure while managing conflicting demands against tight deadlines
A flexible approach to work.
