Job Title: Nurse Manager
Reports To: COO/CNO

Position Summary:
The Nurse Manager has an important role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the PACU and Medical-Surgical areas of Summit Surgical. You will be responsible for leading all nursing staff, ensuring high-quality patient care, maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering a positive work environment conducive to staff development and patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Management:
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise Pre Op, PACU, and hospital nursing staff.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to ensure staff competency and professional growth.
- Develop and implement staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage and optimal patient care.
Clinical Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with established nursing standards, protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor patient outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes.
Operational Efficiency
- Oversee the efficient utilization of resources, including equipment, supplies, and personnel.
- Monitor policies and procedures to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance departmental performance and patient satisfaction.
Patient Care:
- Ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care in accordance with established protocols and best practices.
- Address patient concerns and complaints promptly and effectively, seeking to resolve issues and improve the overall patient experience.
- Foster a culture of excellence in patient care and customer service among nursing staff.
Education and Training:
- Provide ongoing education and training to nursing staff to ensure competency in clinical skills, patient care practices, and safety protocols.
- Facilitate professional development opportunities and encourage staff participation in continuing education programs.
Qualifications:
- RN required, BSN preferred.
- Current RN (Registered Nurse) licensure.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and standards of care.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
This position works in varied environments including medical office, acute care facilities, operating rooms and recovery rooms, as well as potential for off premise work and travel. Regularly exposed to patients’ conditions and some unpleasant sights, various odors, noise, bodily fluid and communicable diseases. Constant interaction with co-workers, patients, vendors and general public, which may involve individuals who are angry, upset or ill. Potential for stressful circumstances to occur.
Physical Requirements:
This position is primarily an action position requiring walking, bending, stooping, crawling, squatting and lifting up to 50 pounds. At times must lift up to 75 pounds. Potential for long periods of standing. Must have visual acuity and manual dexterity to interface with the computer and other facility operating systems. Must have auditory acuity to effectively interact with patients and public.
Work Schedule:
Regular business workdays are Monday through Friday, with regular business hours of 8am-5pm. This position works varied hours per week depending on the scope of open projects, business needs and supervisory approval. This position often requires time outside of the regular business schedule.
