Senior Full Stack Engineer – Core UX
Location: New York, NY
Company Stage of Funding: Venture-Backed Growth-Stage Company
Office Type: Hybrid
Salary: $185,000–$225,000 + Significant Equity
Company Description
We’re representing a venture-backed AI company building professional-grade software for the insurance industry. Its platform helps insurers improve underwriting and other critical workflows by combining AI with software that can read, reason, decide, and act inside real business processes.
The company’s products are already in production with leading insurers, and the team includes engineers and operators from organizations such as Facebook, Palantir, Google, Amazon, Uber, Mastercard, and McKinsey. This role sits on the Core UX team and focuses on making the product feel polished, consistent, responsive, and premium for end users.
What You Will Do
- Improve and refine existing product functionality to deliver a more polished, intuitive user experience.
- Own full-stack product improvements spanning frontend behavior, backend support, and production rollout.
- Focus closely on layout, interaction design, responsiveness, visual consistency, and overall product quality.
- Build and improve frontend experiences using a modern framework, preferably React.
- Work across JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, and related technologies as needed.
- Improve application performance in ways that directly affect end users.
- Partner with full-stack, data, ML, and DevOps engineers on product and platform improvements.
- Build scalable backend systems and APIs that support user-facing functionality.
- Work with serverless and cloud infrastructure, including environments using Lambda and EC2.
- Develop and support asynchronous workflows.
- Work with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.
- Experiment quickly, measure outcomes, and iterate on product improvements.
- Own projects independently and drive them through completion with minimal oversight.
Ideal Background
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong full-stack engineering background with meaningful frontend depth.
- Experience improving and polishing existing product functionality rather than only building greenfield features.
- Strong experience with a modern frontend framework, preferably React.
- Proficiency with JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or a comparable object-oriented language.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals across system design, debugging, and problem-solving.
- Experience building or supporting cloud-based applications.
- Familiarity with serverless technologies, including Lambda and EC2.
- Experience with asynchronous workflows.
- Comfortable working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to execute without heavy oversight.
- Proactive communicator who surfaces blockers, asks good questions, and keeps stakeholders informed.
- Comfortable working in an environment that values experimentation, speed, and measurable outcomes.
Preferred
- Track record of creating premium, highly polished user experiences.
- Strong understanding of UI consistency, responsiveness, interaction patterns, and frontend performance.
- Experience collaborating across frontend, backend, data, and infrastructure teams.
- Experience with LLMs or generative AI.
- Experience with distributed systems.
- Background building B2B or enterprise software where reliability and usability both matter.
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup or growth-stage environment.
- Strong product instincts and attention to detail.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: $185,000–$225,000.
- Significant equity options package.
- Location: New York, NY.
- Hybrid work environment.
- 20 days of PTO annually.
- 100% covered medical insurance.
- 100% covered dental and vision insurance.
- 401(k) with employer contribution regardless of employee contribution.
- Healthy living/gym stipend.
- Mobile phone stipend.
- Continuing education credits.
- Global company offsites.
- Best suited for a full-stack engineer who enjoys iterative product improvement, frontend polish, and making an established product feel exceptionally well crafted.
