Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Healthcare Assistant to support the delivery of high-quality care to individuals accessing our service. Working as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team, you will help deliver healthcare interventions, promote physical wellbeing, and provide practical support to people affected by substance misuse and associated health needs.

This is a varied role involving direct patient care, health assessments, harm reduction interventions, outreach work, and supporting service users throughout their treatment and recovery journey.

Key Duties

  • Support clinicians in delivering healthcare assessments and interventions.
  • Carry out delegated clinical procedures following appropriate training and competency assessment.
  • Support service users with their physical health needs and overall wellbeing.
  • Deliver harm reduction advice, including overdose prevention and health promotion.
  • Assist with alcohol assessments and community detoxification programmes.
  • Undertake health monitoring activities and record outcomes accurately.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely clinical records.
  • Ensure clinical environments are safe, clean, and compliant with infection control standards.
  • Provide information, advice, and signposting to appropriate health and community services.
  • Participate in service improvement activities, audits, and ongoing professional development.

About You

You will be a caring and professional individual with a genuine passion for helping people improve their health and wellbeing.

You will have:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
  • Experience working in a health, care, or support environment.
  • An understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding, and professional boundaries.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A non-judgemental approach when working with vulnerable people.
  • An awareness of the challenges faced by individuals affected by drug and alcohol use, mental health, or social exclusion.

Most importantly, you will be committed to treating people with kindness, respect, and dignity while delivering excellent person-centred care.
