You will be leading agile cross functional software development teams, analyzing, designing and developing products in the healthcare payer market. This is an opportunity to build upon our market-leading products and create a suite of data products based on our core systems. This hire will have significant experience leading teams and in implementing large-scale, distributed, highly available, data-driven enterprise software applications. Customer empathy and user-centric design will be a priority. The ideal candidate will be excited about working on new product development, is comfortable pushing the envelope and challenging the status quo, sets high standards for him/herself and the team, and works well with ambiguity.
The Product: With HealthRules Payer, our integrated solutions suite includes the industry's leading, digital, next-generation claims administration processing system, business intelligence, integration capabilities, a unique to industry configuration and promotion application, and home and host processing support available on both public and private clouds. What You Will Do
Lead the planning and execution of software development projects, including roadmap planning, sprint planning, work breakdown, and backlog refinement.
Own the delivery of software products by managing scope, schedules, quality, and execution throughout the software development lifecycle.
Identify critical paths, define and track key milestones and performance metrics, proactively manage risks, and communicate project status to stakeholders and customers.
Build strong partnerships with customers, product management, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Provide hands-on technical leadership in the design, development, implementation, performance optimization, scalability, and troubleshooting of enterprise software applications.
Champion engineering best practices with a strong focus on software quality, performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.
Drive continuous improvement through innovation, automation, and the effective use of AI-assisted development tools and processes.
Evaluate technology options and architectural trade-offs to support product evolution and long-term maintainability.
Lead, mentor, coach, and develop software engineers by setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, conducting performance evaluations, and supporting career growth.
Recruit, onboard, and retain high-performing engineering talent.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of experience leading and managing software engineering teams.
5+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, distributed, highly available, data-driven enterprise applications.
3+ years of experience working with modern data technologies.
Strong experience with Java and enterprise technologies, including Spring, Apache Tomcat, Oracle Database, WebLogic, and Apache Karaf.
Experience designing and implementing microservices-based architectures.
Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Experience with modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD, configuration management, containerization, virtualization, and infrastructure automation.
Excellent project management, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and drive effective solutions.
A results-oriented mindset with a bias for action, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to remove obstacles and enable team success.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, navigating ambiguity, and driving continuous improvement.
A customer-focused approach with a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions.

**The annual US base salary range for this position is $187,000 to $202,000. This salary range may cover multiple career levels at HealthEdge. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process and is based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, your skills, experience, qualifications and education.
