About PwC SATIC and the Role
PwC’s South Africa Technology & Innovation Centre (SATIC) is a strategic delivery hub within PwC’s global network, supporting large-scale transformation programmes through human-led, technology-enabled delivery.
As part of PwC Ireland’s Transformation Pillar’s Portfolio & Programme Management (PPM) capability, you will play a leading role in delivering complex business and technology-enabled transformation programmes for Irish clients.
The PPM capability provides the delivery discipline, governance, planning and control required to move complex programmes from strategy through to execution. Our teams work across Programme Management, Project Management and Project Management Office (PMO) delivery, helping clients navigate complexity, manage delivery risk and realise sustainable business value.
At Manager level, you will take ownership of significant projects, workstreams or PMO functions, providing day-to-day leadership across delivery while managing complex stakeholder relationships and supporting senior programme governance.
You will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, bringing structure to complex delivery environments, anticipating challenges and ensuring that programmes remain focused on their strategic objectives and intended value.
What You Will Do
As a Manager, you will:
Lead projects, programme workstreams or PMO functions across complex business and technology-enabled transformation programmes.
Take ownership of end-to-end project and programme delivery, from mobilisation, scope definition and business case development through planning, implementation and post-deployment review.
Establish and maintain effective programme governance, delivery controls and reporting structures.
Own integrated project and programme plans, ensuring effective management of milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, resources and delivery priorities.
Provide leadership and oversight to other PMO or project resources, ensuring quality, consistency and timely delivery across the team.
Lead programme governance forums and senior stakeholder meetings, including preparing agendas and materials, facilitating decision-making and ensuring actions and decisions are effectively managed.
Develop and quality-assure executive-level programme reporting, presentations, governance packs and decision materials for senior client and leadership audiences.
Build and manage relationships with senior client stakeholders, navigating complex stakeholder environments and aligning different perspectives around programme priorities and outcomes.
Proactively identify programme risks, delivery challenges and emerging issues, developing practical interventions and recovery actions where required.
Manage scope, change, communications and stakeholder-engagement activities across complex delivery environments.
Apply and tailor Waterfall, Agile and hybrid methodologies to meet programme and client requirements.
Lead programme mobilisation, planning and workshop activities, creating structure and delivery discipline in complex or ambiguous environments.
Drive effective benefits realisation and value tracking, maintaining alignment between programme delivery and wider business objectives.
Work across multidisciplinary, geographically distributed and blended teams, coordinating stakeholders and delivery partners across different functions and territories.
Support technology-enabled transformation programmes, including programmes involving system implementation or enhancement.
Use technology, automation and AI-enabled tools to improve programme management, reporting, decision-making and PMO effectiveness.
Coach and develop junior team members, sharing PPM knowledge, providing quality oversight and supporting continuous improvement across the team.
What You Will Bring
Essential Experience and Capabilities
You will have:
3+ years
Significant practical experience leading project, programme, PMO or transformation delivery activities within complex environments.
Demonstrated experience taking ownership of projects, programme workstreams or PMO functions with limited day-to-day senior oversight.
Strong experience across programme governance, integrated planning and scheduling, RAID and dependency management, programme controls, reporting and delivery assurance.
Experience leading large-scale business, operational, digital or technology-enabled transformation initiatives.
Strong working knowledge of Waterfall, Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies, with the judgement to tailor approaches appropriately to the client and programme environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project or PMO teams and oversee the work of junior resources.
Strong senior stakeholder-management capability, including the ability to influence, challenge constructively, resolve competing priorities and build alignment across complex stakeholder groups.
Experience leading client meetings, workshops and governance forums and facilitating effective decision-making.
Experience producing and quality-assuring executive-level reporting, programme updates, presentations and governance materials.
Strong commercial and strategic awareness, with the ability to connect programme activities and decisions to business objectives, benefits and value outcomes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, including the ability to interpret programme data and identify emerging delivery trends and risks.
Strong Microsoft Office capability, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and an ability to use modern digital and AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot to enhance programme and PMO delivery.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex programme issues clearly to senior audiences.
A proactive, curious and solutions-oriented mindset, with the confidence to operate effectively within ambiguity and complex stakeholder environments.
The resilience and judgement to remain composed and provide clear direction in challenging or high-pressure programme situations.
Qualifications and Certifications
You will ideally have:
A degree in Business, Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
A recognised project or programme management certification such as PRINCE2, PMP, MSP, Agile Project Management, Scrum or SAFe.
Lean Six Sigma or Business Analysis qualifications would be advantageous.
Advantageous Experience
The following would be beneficial but are not essential:
Experience delivering transformation programmes across multinational, geographically distributed, offshore/onshore or blended delivery environments.
Experience within Banking, Insurance, Government, Health, Public Sector or other complex or regulated sectors.
Cross-sector transformation experience and the ability to adapt rapidly to different client environments.
Previous consulting or professional-services experience.
Experience leading technology-enabled transformation, system implementation, digital, cloud or system-enhancement programmes.
Experience using Microsoft Project, JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps or other enterprise programme and portfolio management tools.
Experience developing or overseeing programme dashboards and reporting using Power BI or similar analytics tools.
Portfolio management or Transformation Office experience.
Experience leading programme recovery or mobilisation activities across complex delivery environments.
