The Role

As a Principal Solution Consultant, you will collaborate closely with AspenTech sales teams to lead consultative discovery sessions, craft visionary solutions, and design strategies tailored to customer needs. Your deep understanding of the industries and coupled with AspenTech's broad product portfolio and value-enablers will drive opportunities that deliver significant business value to our customers and AspenTech.
In this customer-facing role, you will leverage your technical domain expertise, industry knowledge, and business acumen to position AspenTech solutions effectively.

Your Impact

• Leading and executing the technical qualification of solutions to a business outcome.
• Serving as a discipline/practice subject matter expert with a strong understanding of operational challenges, best practices, and industry trends.
• Learning the complete AspenTech product portfolio to identify and apply products that solve real customer business challenges, including the value of solving those challenges.
• Developing the messaging and materials necessary to position AspenTech solutions in the industry - making adaptations for regional or market differences.
• Partnering closely with Sales Account Managers throughout the sales cycle, from discovery and solution design to executive presentations and deal execution.
• Engaging the senior executive level of customer organisations to paint the vision of how AspenTech can be a partner in their digitalisation journey.
• Developing industry-specific solutions, aligning technology with measurable business value.
• Providing market input to the Product Management teams to improve solution adoption.
• Identifying and leading sales campaigns to improve AspenTech’s reach, pipeline and awareness.
• Coaching and enabling Sales Account Managers and Solution Consultants on industry-specific messaging, customer engagement strategies and solution positioning.
• Representing AspenTech at industry conferences, customer forums, webinars and trade events across the region.

What You'll Need

• 10+ years of experience in industrial software, services, solution consulting, presales, technical sales or related customer-facing technical roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline (preferred).
• Proficiency in Asset Performance Management (Mtell), Industrial Data Platforms (Inmation), Historians (InfoPlus.21), and Advanced Process Control & Real Time Optimization (RTO) (DMC3, GDOT, Aspen Plus), or equivalent competitor technologies.
• Demonstrated successes in business development.
• Strong ability to bridge technology and business, articulating high-level technical solutions and their differentiated value.
• Strong drive to convert opportunities into recognised value for customers, with exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Must be authorized to work in South Africa without restriction/sponsorship.

• Services or solution consulting exposure to industries such as Metals & Mining, LNG, Specialty Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Polymers, Consumer Packaged Goods, Food & Beverage, Pulp & Paper, Power Generation, and Water & Wastewater.
• Breadth across several AspenTech solution areas / well-rounded across multiple disciplines.
• Knowledge of AI/ML solutions and their application in industry.
• Strong understanding of digital transformation initiatives within asset-intensive industries.
• Regional travel up to 35%.
