Goodwill Southwest Florida is seeking a Retail Shift Supervisor to support the management team in the daily operation of the store. This position assists with achieving sales, expense, profit, production, merchandising, customer service, and mission-related goals while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The Shift Supervisor provides leadership, training, and operational support to create a safe, productive, and customer-focused environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Safety

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized store environment through adherence to Kaizen principles, PPE requirements, safety procedures, facility inspections, incident reporting, and monthly safety meetings.
  • Ensure all required store equipment is maintained in safe operating condition and support compliance with all safety standards and requirements.

Financial Results

  • Assist in achieving store sales, expense, profit, customer transaction, and Ecommerce revenue goals.
  • Support efforts to increase customer count, average sales per customer, and sales per square foot in accordance with store objectives.
  • Comply with all recycling and salvage procedures to maximize donation value and reduce disposal expenses.

Customer & Mission Services

  • Ensure staff maintain positive relationships with customers and donors and resolve guest concerns in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Help educate customers, donors, and the community about Goodwill programs and mission services.

Production & Merchandising

  • Sort and grade merchandise, hang and price items according to established guidelines, and meet daily production goals.
  • Maintain attractive merchandise displays, proper signage, inventory rotation, and compliance with all pricing, merchandising, and Good, Better, Best guidelines.
  • Ensure all mission-related signage is properly displayed throughout the store.

Administrative

  • Prepare and submit accurate reports, control store expenses, and ensure compliance with loss prevention policies.
  • Complete required documentation, including DSRs, bank deposits, Kaizen inspections, facility checklists, meeting records, and other organizational reporting requirements.

Store Maintenance

  • Assist with the physical operation of the store and premises.
  • Submit maintenance requests according to company policy and maintain cleanliness of the sales floor, backroom, and exterior areas.

Staffing & Leadership

  • Foster effective communication with employees through store meetings and ongoing interaction.
  • Supervise, train, and support employees to ensure achievement of production, pricing, recycling, salvage, and quality control standards.
  • Facilitate and participate in weekly staff training and educational sessions designed to improve knowledge, motivation, and performance.
  • Establish and reinforce individual performance standards in alignment with organizational expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support store operations.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of retail sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn and operate point-of-sale systems, donation systems, office computers, and telephones.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees in production, merchandising, checkout, and customer service functions.
  • Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions while demonstrating good judgment, patience, and understanding.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, hear, and perform business-related mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, and move items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
