The Environment Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. This position will work with various departments to ensure environmental standards are met and support the development and implementation of environmental programs and policiesEssential job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the GRDA Environmental Compliance Manager in managing and completing the multitude of environmental compliance tasks.
- Assist the Environmental Compliance Manager in the preparation and review of required reports and compliance documents, including preparation of environmental permit applications.
- Make regular site visits to the various GRDA facilities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and to answer questions for facility personnel.
- Assist the GRDA environmental staff in review, updating, and distribution of environmental plans for the Authority.
- Maintain up-to-date permits, reports, and environmental plans to ensure ongoing environmental compliance across the Authority.
- Assist the Environmental Compliance Manager in managing third party contractors GRDA uses for regular and irregular compliance tasks.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualities:
- Strong knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of legal documentation and terminology
- Attention to detail and accuracy
Education, Training, Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or similar field
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in environmental compliance, sustainability, or related areas preferred.
Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident.
Physical/Mental Requirements & Working Conditions:
- This position will include a combination of field work and office duties.
