Salary & Benefits: $110,000–$120,000 base salary + 20% annual bonus opportunity; additional flexibility may be considered for the right candidate

Additional Notes: Active CPA designation required. Strong Big 4/public accounting experience, technical IFRS expertise, SOX knowledge, and exposure to large public-company environments are highly preferred.

As our client continues to expand, it is building out its technical accounting capability and seeking a strong Manager, Technical Accounting to support some of its most complex and strategically important transactions.

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and working closely with senior technical accounting leadership, the Manager will provide accounting guidance and oversight for mergers and acquisitions, new investment opportunities, strategic growth initiatives, and complex contractual arrangements. This is not an M&A execution role; rather, the successful candidate will lead the accounting analysis and compliance work that supports major corporate transactions and ensures financial integrity under IFRS and SOX requirements.

This opportunity offers significant exposure to senior leadership, external auditors, global finance teams, and high-profile business decisions across a large, publicly traded renewable energy platform.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Accounting & Transaction Support

• Provide technical accounting support and oversight for mergers and acquisitions, new investments, and other strategic growth initiatives.
• Research complex accounting matters and prepare clear, well-supported technical accounting position papers.
• Review legal agreements and transaction documentation to determine appropriate accounting treatment and support defensible conclusions.
• Perform and review accounting analyses under IFRS 9, IFRS 15, IFRS 16, and other applicable accounting standards.
• Support accounting considerations related to valuation, including property, plant, and equipment and transaction-related investments.
• Translate complex accounting conclusions into practical recommendations for senior leadership and business stakeholders.

Financial Reporting & Public Company Compliance

• Support the preparation, review, and presentation of consolidated financial statements for publicly traded Canadian and U.S. entities.
• Ensure accounting conclusions and financial reporting comply with applicable IFRS requirements and organizational accounting policies.
• Maintain strong internal controls and support a SOX-compliant financial close process.
• Coordinate quarterly and annual audit requirements and work directly with external auditors to address technical inquiries and resolve complex matters.
• Support compliance with public-company regulatory and financial reporting requirements.

Global Finance Partnership & Process Leadership

• Partner with regional and global finance teams to provide technical accounting guidance across a diverse portfolio of businesses and investments.
• Coordinate accounting deliverables across multiple stakeholders, ensuring information is accurate, complete, and received within required timelines.
• Hold stakeholders accountable for reporting requirements while maintaining strong collaborative relationships across the organization.
• Support the Vice President, Finance and other senior leaders with special projects, technical analysis, and strategic financial initiatives.
• Help strengthen and standardize technical accounting processes across the organization.

The ideal candidate is an active CPA with at least five years of progressive experience in technical accounting, financial reporting, or audit, ideally including meaningful experience within a Big 4 or comparable public accounting firm. They have worked with large, complex, or publicly traded organizations and bring deep knowledge of IFRS, particularly IFRS 9, IFRS 15, and IFRS 16.

The successful candidate will be comfortable navigating complex agreements, researching accounting guidance, forming defensible accounting opinions, and preparing detailed technical position papers to support their conclusions. Experience with SOX, public-company reporting, consolidated financial statements, and regulatory requirements is important, while U.S. GAAP exposure is considered an asset.

This role does not have direct reports but requires strong process leadership across a global portfolio. The successful candidate must be confident influencing stakeholders, managing deadlines, challenging assumptions, and explaining highly technical accounting issues in clear and practical terms.

• Big 4 experience supporting large, complex, or publicly traded organizations.
• Demonstrated involvement in the technical accounting aspects of significant M&A transactions or large-scale investment activity.
• Deep expertise applying IFRS 9, IFRS 15, and IFRS 16 to complex transactions and agreements.
• Strong experience preparing technical accounting position papers and supporting conclusions through accounting guidance, contractual analysis, and professional judgment.
• Significant knowledge of SOX, internal controls, and public-company reporting requirements.
• Experience preparing or reviewing financial statements for TSX- or NYSE-listed entities.
• The ability to simplify complex technical accounting matters and communicate conclusions effectively to senior leadership.
• Experience coordinating deliverables across global finance teams without direct reporting authority.
