Description
About the Company
Our client is an advanced manufacturing company operating in industries where quality, precision, reliability, and manufacturing performance are critical. The organization develops high-precision manufacturing solutions and operates in an environment where quality systems, process controls, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration are essential.
The Role
Our client is looking for a Quality Systems Engineer to help ensure the quality and reliability of its products and manufacturing processes.
This is a hands-on quality engineering role spanning internal and external audits, CAPA, process improvement, defect reduction, quality data analysis, inspection controls, process validation, and quality planning.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify quality and process issues, analyze production data, implement corrective and preventive actions, strengthen inspection methods, and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
The role also includes supporting and hosting customer and third-party audits, managing system-level corrective actions, and ensuring quality processes and controls support customer and industry expectations.
What You'll Own
- Lead internal audits to evaluate process quality and efficiency, identify improvement opportunities, and drive positive change.
- Host third-party and customer audits of the Quality Management System (QMS) and support compliance with applicable requirements.
- Manage system-level corrective and preventive actions, including root cause analysis, corrective action planning, preventive actions, and effectiveness evaluation.
- Monitor quality KPIs, including yield, defect rates, and on-time delivery, to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Track and analyze nonconformance trends and drive targeted process improvement initiatives.
- Develop dashboards and reports to provide visibility into quality performance and actionable insights.
- Lead process improvement and defect reduction initiatives using quality and production data to identify trends and root causes.
- Implement process controls and standardized inspection procedures to improve consistency, prevent recurring quality issues, and increase first-pass yield.
- Establish and maintain inspection criteria and acceptance standards aligned with customer requirements and industry best practices.
- Evaluate inspection capability using Gage R&R and Cpk analyses.
- Develop and implement scalable quality control plans and support the deployment of new inspection technologies.
- Support process validation for new or modified manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality requirements into product and process development and support new processes.
- Mentor quality team members on inspection, data analysis, process control, and cross-functional problem solving.
What You'll Need
- Demonstrated experience with quality initiatives focused on process improvement, defect reduction, and inspection optimization in manufacturing environments.
- Experience implementing and managing PPAP, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Knowledge of advanced inspection methods and tools, including CMM programming, Gage R&R, and sampling techniques.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-informed decisions to improve yield and reduce defects.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, including the ability to present quality metrics, deliverables, and insights to stakeholders.
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to U.S. export-control requirements.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a quality-focused role.
- Experience in regulated industries such as automotive, aerospace, or defense.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or IATF 16949.
- Hands-on experience conducting and/or hosting audits with customers and registrars.
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Cpk/process capability analysis.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or higher or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
- Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing or automated inspection systems.
Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production areas, quality and material labs, and office settings.
Some travel may be required for customer audits, supplier evaluations, or off-site quality initiatives, with a maximum of 10% travel.
The position requires frequent standing, walking, or light lifting of up to 25 pounds.
