As a Hospice Music Therapist, you’ll contribute to our success in the following ways:

  • Ensures that all activities performed align with the vision of Elara Caring’s board of directors, executive team, and the leadership of the Clinical team.
  • Collaborates with the Hospice Interdisciplinary Teams to assess and implement a plan of care for patients and families, with the approval of the physician, utilizing music therapy.
  • Interacts cooperatively and with consideration toward patients and hospice staff.
  • Develops and executes individualized treatment plans for assigned patients including specific therapy goals. Reevaluates and modifies plans as necessary.
  • Evaluates patient responses to music therapy through direct patient interview, monitoring changes in perceived stress level changes.
  • Maintains and increases knowledge of the music therapy field.
  • Function as an ambassador in partnering facilities and the community.
  • Provides opportunities for individual, small group, and large group participation. Develops the program to provide both regular scheduled activities and special events.
  • Participates in IDG meetings when appropriate.
  • Music therapy services perform in accordance with accepted standards of practice.
  • Confers with physicians, case managers, social workers, chaplains, and long-term care staff as well as patient’s family members to clarify patient needs and to discuss issues related to patient care.

What is Required?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from a program approved by the American Music Therapy Association.
  • Preferred one (1) year experience in an approved AMTA site. Hospice care experience is desirable.
  • 50% travel required
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and support up to 50 pounds, including positioning or transferring patients and moving equipment
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance and reliable transportation to perform job tasks

You will report to the Clinical Team Manager.
