You will…
- Directly conduct new-hire onboarding for Vehicle Operators, executing the full training curriculum from classroom instruction through field certification.
- Deliver structured instruction across all VO and FS phases.
- Administer JJ Keller compliance modules, Mixed Reality Training (MRT) scenarios, and driving assessments as directed by the Training Manager.
- Guide VO trainees to meet all proficiency thresholds.
- Conduct routine ridealongs and provide immediate, constructive, and documented feedback using the VO performance scale.
- Translate engineering and safety updates into clear, practical on-road instruction, ensuring VOs understand and can execute changes to autonomous system behavior.
- Execute the continuous learning framework by delivering refresher training and recertification following new SOPs, software updates, truck upfits, and feature releases.
- Utilize the Daily Training Tracker and Jira update processes to formally log and monitor VO trainee progress and development activities.
- Support the Training Manager in maintenance, version control, and distribution of up-to-date VO training materials and documentation.
- Mentor high-performing VOs through the Senior VO Trainer (Train-the-Trainer) program and support delivery of the Demo Readiness Certification.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3+ years of direct experience as a Vehicle Operator or in a comparable professional driving role within transportation, logistics, or the autonomous vehicle industry.
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with a clean driving record; direct experience operating Class 8 vehicles required.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver structured, safety-critical training and conduct performance assessments in a hands-on, on-road environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to operators at all experience levels.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, including consistent and accurate record-keeping in LMS or tracking systems.
- Passion for self-driving technologies, solving hard problems, and building a culture of safety and operational excellence.
- Occasional travel to other operational sites may be required.
Bonus:
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training record administration.
- Prior experience delivering formal training, coaching, or mentorship to peers or new hires in a technical field operations environment.
- Familiarity with autonomous vehicle systems, Mixed Reality Training (MRT), or Platform Shakeout procedures.
- Experience as a certified trainer or assessor, including participation in a Train-the-Trainer or similar instructor certification program.
