Are you ready to join an ambitious team at NVIDIA and help build the future of technology? We are seeking a Manufacturing Development Engineer (Automation) in Hsinchu, Taiwan. This is an outstanding opportunity to work in a world-class environment where innovation, collaboration, and diversity are central to our values. Join us and play a pivotal role in developing flawless automation solutions!

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide end-to-end manufacturing assembly process solutions, including DFX (design for manufacturing, design for assembly, design for 6-sigma, design for testing, etc.).
  • Identify, assess, and apply risk mitigation strategies, leading investigations of issues, identifying root causes of product failures, and driving corrective actions.
  • Review contract manufacturer (CM) readiness, develop assembly fixtures and jigs, and establish clear assembly and manufacturing specifications through a step-by-step validation process.
  • Gather feedback through DFx, yield issues, and repair center activities to improve workflow efficiency, analyze system assembly gaps, study cosmetic appearances, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Review automation options, suggest approaches for reducing waste and cutting costs, recommend technological solutions, product design improvements, and workspace layout changes to ensure high quality and efficiency.
  • Manage the acquisition of specialized equipment, materials, and other components, ensuring they meet intended use, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement automation solutions for our manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and deploy automated systems that improve production capabilities.

What we need to see:

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in developing and implementing automation solutions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Validated mechanical/thermal architecture mentality, expertise in GD&T, tolerance analysis, and 2D drawing, with a critical focus on manufacturing risk.
  • Good understanding of commonly used equipment in manufacturing, familiar with electrical or electro-mechanical components, and PCBA-related manufacturing processes.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, technical and quality critical, with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data proficiently in SPC, 6 sigma, quality control, CpK, and PPAP.
  • Knowledgeable in DFM, DFA, DFx, manufacturing cost breakdown, and accurately predicting production performance.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, with Creo preferred, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in English, with flexibility to travel.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Ability to learn quickly and operate outside of comfort zone and familiarity with robotic assembly, machine vision, automated fastening, dispensing, and material handling technologies.
  • Experience in functional tolerancing, GD&T, SPC, system assembly/testing, and a solid grasp of NPI processes.
  • Relevant design experience in data center product design is highly desirable.
  • Experience reviewing and deploying automation assembly solutions in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working with automation suppliers and contract manufacturers during automation validation and production ramp.

With competitive salaries and a generous benefits package, NVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the most desirable employers in the world. We have some of the most brilliant and talented people in the world working for us. If you are creative, autonomous and love a challenge, we want to hear from you.
