Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced in-house counsel to join our dynamic team. This position will play a key role in providing legal advice and support to all departments within the company, particularly in relation to contracts, disputes, and corporate matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal advice and support to all departments within the company, including but not limited to:
- Contract drafting and negotiation.
- Reviewing and interpreting construction contracts
- Advising on legal compliance and risk management
- Drafting and negotiating joint venture agreements, memorandums of understanding, settlement agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and heads of agreement
- Handling adjudication, arbitration, and litigation matters
- Attending to legal notices and drafting replies to contractual letters from clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Liaising with external counsel on legal issues, such as adjudication, arbitration, and litigation matters
- Reviewing and revising company policies and procedures
- Proactively identify and address legal risks
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university
- Minimum of 20 years of experience as in-house counsel or in a similar role within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of construction law, laws relating to conveyancing & contracts and corporate law
- Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia is a plus.
