POSITION SUMMARY
The Warehouse Coordinator supports the daily operations of the donation warehouse by coordinating workflow, overseeing warehouse activities, and ensuring the efficient movement of donated goods throughout the organization. This position serves as a lead resource for warehouse operations, supervising Work Therapy clients and volunteers while providing excellent service to donors and internal partners. The Warehouse Coordinator also performs donation pick-ups, operates Mission vehicles, and maintains inventory accuracy and warehouse safety. Through effective stewardship of donated resources, this role supports Phoenix Rescue Mission's Christ-centered mission of serving those in need.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Coordinate daily warehouse workflow, operational priorities, and staging activities to ensure efficient processing and distribution of donated goods.
- Monitor warehouse organization, inventory flow, cleanliness, safety, and operational concerns.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for warehouse visitors, donors, case managers, and internal departments.
- Assist with inventory control, order fulfillment, and distribution activities for Mission programs and community partners.
- Provide day-to-day direction, training, and support to Work Therapy clients, volunteers, and warehouse staff while promoting teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by interacting professionally and courteously with donors, community partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Safely operate trucks to complete donation pick-ups and deliveries; load, unload, inspect, secure, and transport donated items in compliance with organizational driving and safety requirements.
- Receive, inspect, sort, organize, and maintain donated goods in accordance with warehouse standards.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and community providers to ensure consistent communication and service delivery.
- Demonstrate Christ's love through gracious hospitality, compassionate service, and participation in devotions, prayer, chapel services, and other ministry activities.
- Safely lift, carry, and move items, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and comply with all organizational policies, safety standards, the Mission's Statement of Faith, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one year of warehouse, logistics, distribution, or related operational experience preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience operating a box truck or similar commercial vehicle required.
- Experience supervising or directing volunteers, work crews, or program participants preferred.
- Forklift and pallet jack experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to become and remain an approved Mission driver required.
COMPETENCIES
- Understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, shipping, receiving, and material handling practices.
- Familiarity with safe driving practices, traffic laws, vehicle inspections, and basic commercial vehicle maintenance.
- Working knowledge of warehouse safety procedures, proper lifting techniques, and equipment operation.
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Proven ability to organize workflow, prioritize competing responsibilities, and coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
- Capacity to provide day-to-day leadership, instruction, and support to Work Therapy clients and volunteers.
- Skill in maintaining accurate records related to inventory, vehicle inspections, and warehouse activities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Comfort working safely and effectively in warehouse environments and outdoor conditions, including extreme Arizona temperatures.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position is designated as safety-sensitive due to responsibilities involving the operation of commercial vehicles, powered warehouse equipment, loading and unloading heavy materials, and directing warehouse activities. Employees must maintain the ability to safely perform all essential job functions and comply with the organization's drug-free workplace policy, including no use of illegal drugs or misuse of controlled substances.
