Job Purpose
Responsible for leading and growing strategic corporate and institutional client relationships within the Investment Banking division. The role focuses on originating, structuring, and executing complex financing and capital market transactions while delivering comprehensive banking solutions to clients. The incumbent is expected to drive business development initiatives, provide strategic client coverage, and collaborate closely with internal product partners to achieve revenue targets, strengthen client relationships, and enhance the Bank’s market presence.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Manage and expand a portfolio of strategic corporate and institutional clients, acting as the primary relationship lead.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior management, key decision-makers, and stakeholders across client organizations.
- Develop a deep understanding of clients’ business strategies, funding requirements, capital structure, and growth objectives to identify business opportunities.
- Formulate and execute client account plans to deepen relationships, enhance client engagement, and increase wallet share.
- Provide strategic advisory and holistic banking solutions tailored to clients’ business and financial objectives.
- Ensure high standards of client service and maintain long-term trusted advisor relationships.
Business Development and Origination
- Lead the origination of new business opportunities across debt capital markets, sukuk, syndicated financing, structured finance, treasury solutions, and other investment banking products.
- Drive revenue generation through proactive client engagement and business development initiatives.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities and collaborate with product specialists to deliver integrated financial solutions.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of client presentations, pitches, proposals, and mandate discussions.
- Support the acquisition of new clients and strengthen the Bank’s market presence across targeted sectors.
- Monitor industry developments, market trends, and competitor activities to identify emerging opportunities and business prospects.
Transaction Leadership and Execution
- Lead transaction origination, structuring, and execution activities from inception through completion.
- Collaborate closely with internal product teams, legal counsel, regulators, advisors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful deal execution.
- Oversee financial analysis, industry research, credit assessments, valuation reviews, and due diligence processes to support transaction execution.
- Provide strategic input on transaction structures and financing solutions while balancing client needs and risk considerations.
- Ensure transactions are executed efficiently, accurately, and within agreed timelines.
- Support and guide junior team members throughout transaction processes and client engagements.
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
- Collaborate effectively with product specialists, risk management, legal, compliance, operations, and senior management teams.
- Drive internal coordination across business units to deliver seamless and comprehensive client solutions.
- Mentor, coach, and develop junior bankers and relationship managers to strengthen team capability and performance.
- Support business planning, portfolio management, and strategic initiatives within the division.
- Contribute to the development and execution of client coverage strategies, sector plans, and growth initiatives.
Risk and Governance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and governance standards.
- Maintain sound credit and risk management practices across client portfolios and transactions.
- Identify, assess, and escalate key risks and issues appropriately to senior management.
- Promote a culture of professionalism, integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline. A Master's Degree and/or professional qualifications such as CFA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent would be an added advantage.
- Minimum 8–12 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate banking, capital markets, structured finance, client coverage, or a related financial services environment.
- Proven track record in originating, structuring, and executing financing transactions, including loans, bonds, sukuk, syndicated facilities, structured financing, and capital market transactions.
- Demonstrated experience in managing senior corporate and institutional client relationships, with the ability to engage and influence C-suite executives and key decision-makers.
- Strong knowledge of corporate finance, credit analysis, debt capital markets, structured finance, and investment banking products.
- Strong financial analysis, transaction structuring, and risk assessment capabilities, with the ability to evaluate business, financial, industry, and credit risks effectively.
- Excellent relationship management, networking, negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and business development skills, with a proven ability to generate revenue and identify new business opportunities.
- Strong communication, presentation, advisory, and influencing skills, with the ability to prepare and deliver high-impact client pitches and proposals.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including mentoring and developing junior team members and managing multiple transactions in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, accountability, commercial acumen, and client-centric mindset, with the ability to work collaboratively across functions and thrive in a dynamic business environment.
