Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic Banquet Captain to join our team! As a Banquet Captain, you will be responsible for ensuring that all banquet events are executed flawlessly and to the highest standards. Your exceptional communication skills and attention to detail will allow you to lead and coordinate our team of banquet servers, ensuring that all guests receive an outstanding experience. With your positive attitude and enthusiasm for delivering exceptional service, you will work closely with our event planners and culinary team to ensure that every detail is perfect. About Our Property
The Higgins Hotel & Conference Center’s name reflects the contributions of the extraordinary entrepreneur, Andrew Higgins, who designed and built over 20,000 boats in New Orleans that were used in every major amphibious assault of World War II.
Conveniently located directly across the street from The National WWII Museum, the hotel offers 230 era-inspired guest rooms and specialty suites, premium amenities, full-service restaurant, lounge, and a rooftop bar, as well as a second-floor conference center with more than 18,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

Responsibilities
- Act as direct liaison between guests and staff and creatively solve unusual customer requests
- Display knowledge of food preparation and service.
- Display knowledge of physical capabilities of banquet space.
- Ensure banquet rooms are set up according to contract.
- Keep work areas clean and organized.
- Complete necessary paperwork as assigned.
- Assist Banquet Manager in activities relating to banquet department.
- Assist in the training of banquet servers
- Maintain inventory of banquet supplies.
- Set up portable bars and assist in acquisition of special equipment needed for banquet functions.
- Attend required meetings.
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor to include cross training.
Qualifications
- One year banquet attendant/server experience
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Hours vary based on needs; position is not overtime eligible
- Valid Responsible vendor certification; must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of food and beverage service and catering operations
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
- Basic computer skills
