Maintenance Custodian

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

General Cleaning Duties

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors, carpets, and surfaces.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors.
• Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
• Wash windows, walls, and glass surfaces as needed.

Sanitation & Disinfection

• Disinfect high-touch surfaces (e.g., doorknobs, light switches, handrails).
• Use approved cleaning agents and disinfectants according to safety guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness in food preparation areas (lunchroom).

Equipment & Supplies

• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, and vacuums.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishments when needed.
• Ensure proper storage and labeling of chemicals and supplies.

Compliance & Safety

• Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Comply with company policies, OSHA standards, and sanitation regulations.
• Report maintenance issues, hazards, or repairs needed to supervisors.

Routine & Special Tasks

• Perform scheduled deep cleaning tasks (e.g., carpet shampooing, pressure washing).
• Assist with setting up and cleanup for events or facility changes.
• Respond to emergency cleanups (e.g., spills, biohazards) promptly and safely.
• Assist with special projects as needed (painting, minor repairs, etc)

EDUCATION:

Required: High School diploma or GED equivalent 

Skills:

• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
• Work involves continuous lifting, bending, reaching, and twisting. 

• SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable):. This position requires the cognitive and mental ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. Ability to pass written testing requirements in numeric, visual, verbal comp, space visualization, and work orientation
