Description
Product Manager (Loyalty)
The Opportunity
Most loyalty roles in banking ask you to tweak point allocations or manage existing, gated tier systems. This is not most roles.
You will build a universal loyalty programme from the ground up for a newly established bank that already possesses a major, established customer base in South Africa.
The programme operates on a distinct philosophy: there are no tiers, no gated benefits, and no status-based exclusions. Every client receives identical access and opportunity to earn value.
Your challenge is to engineer genuine, long-term retention and engagement without relying on traditional status traps.
What is in it for you
- True Greenfield Influence: You get to design, build, and deploy a loyalty framework from scratch, leaving a direct legacy on how a new financial institution grows.
- A Different Design Challenge: Instead of standard corporate metrics, you will apply high-engagement consumer mechanics like behavioural economics, variable rewards, loss aversion, and streak design to a regulated retail base.
- Substantial Scale from Day One: While the banking framework is fresh, you are not shouting into a void for users. You are designing for an entity that already holds a deeply loyal, built-in audience.
Your Focus
- Retention Engineering: Using cohort analysis and behavioural design to turn first-time users into long-term advocates.
- Commercial Modelling: Owning the programme economics, including points liability, partner unit economics, and cohort lifetime value.
- Experimentation: Setting up and running regular A/B tests, segmentation models, and rapid data prototyping to see what sticks.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Serving as the bridge between brand identity, data analysis, finance, and engineering to launch features into the market.
What You Bring
- Gaming or High-Engagement Background: At least 5 years of product management experience, with a significant portion spent inside a gaming company or an equivalent high-retention consumer business.
- Behavioural Design Fluency: Practical experience applying scarcity, anchoring, streaks, and reciprocity responsibly.
- Data and Tool Literacy: Hands-on proficiency with BI tools, data interrogation, and the active use of AI tools to drive your own day-to-day research and prototyping efficiency.
- Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Marketing, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
Location & Package
- Location: Somerset West, Western Cape
- Remuneration: R1.6 million to R1.8 million per annum
