Description
We’re BDO, a global professional services firm connected to local markets. Our people work together to provide specialist expertise, helping businesses achieve their goals.
We inspire others, to go further. We create together, to reach higher. We build trust, to lead purposefully.
Whether you're building your future or starting your career with us, you won’t do it alone. From creating solutions for our clients to building careers for our people, we shape what matters, and that’s where you come in.
About the Role
As the Head of Finance Operations, you will be a trusted operational partner to the CFO, translating finance priorities into effective outcomes across the Finance Operations function. Leading the delivery of high quality finance operations across accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll, you will ensure strong governance, operational efficiency and effective risk management across key finance processes.
Leading a team of finance professionals, you will drive continuous improvement, automation and scalable ways of working that enhance both performance and service quality. Working across transactional finance, finance policy governance and firmwide finance processes, you will partner with senior stakeholders across the business, influence operational effectiveness and help shape a finance function that supports the firm's long term growth ambitions.
Key responsibilities:
Lead and develop the Finance Operations team, overseeing workforce planning and resource allocation to ensure capacity, capability and investment are aligned with business priorities and budget requirements.
Provide leadership and oversight across accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll, ensuring high standards of service delivery, compliance and operational performance.
Drive operational excellence through the establishment of controls, performance measures and continuous improvement initiatives.
Oversee finance policies, governance frameworks and key firmwide finance processes, ensuring they remain compliant, effective and fit for purpose as the business evolves.
Lead the identification and implementation of process improvement, automation and technology initiatives that enhance efficiency, scalability and service quality.
Foster the successful adoption of new systems, processes and ways of working, embedding sustainable change across the function.
Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Finance, People & Culture, IT and the broader business to support effective service delivery, issue resolution and cross functional collaboration.
Maintain a strong governance and risk framework across Finance Operations, proactively managing compliance obligations, operational risks, vendor relationships and service provider performance.
About You
You will bring demonstrated experience leading a finance operations function, ideally within a professional services, partnership, or similarly complex organisational environment. Specifically, you will have:
Significant experience managing AP, AR, and payroll operations at a leadership level, with hands-on knowledge of the processes, risks, and compliance obligations involved.
A proven track record of delivering process improvement, automation and operational transformation initiatives that drive efficiency, scalability and service quality.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing finance operations teams, building capability, accountability and high performance cultures.
Strong knowledge of finance governance, policy frameworks and operational risk management.
Experience leading change adoption for new systems, processes or ways of working, with a focus on embedding sustainable improvements.
Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate operational performance into meaningful business insights.
