Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- System Design: Architect, design, and implement distributed, highly scalable, and fault-tolerant Java applications for complex order routing, execution, and position management.
- Performance Optimization: Drive continuous latency reduction, memory management tuning, and performance optimization across the entire trading infrastructure.
- Modernization: Evaluate legacy OMS components and spearhead migration paths to modern event-driven architectures and microservices.
Team Management & Delivery
- People Leadership: Mentor, coach, and manage a distributed team of senior Java developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and agile delivery.
- Execution: Own the end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring timely delivery of high-quality code that complies with rigorous regulatory and security standards.
- Code Quality: Enforce best practices in CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (unit, integration, and performance), and comprehensive code reviews.
Business Alignment & Collaboration
- Stakeholder Management: Partner with front-office business stakeholders, including Traders, Quants, Risk Management, and Compliance teams, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Vendor Integration: Oversee integration with internal and external entities, including market data feeds, exchange connectivity (FIX protocol), and third-party OMS/EMS vendors.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Technical Expertise

- Trading Expertise: Proven track record working directly on Order Management Systems (OMS), Execution Management Systems (EMS), or algorithmic trading platforms.
- Protocols & Data: Deep understanding of the FIX Protocol (Financial Information eXchange) and market data processing.
- Architecture Patterns: Strong expertise in event-driven architecture, messaging middleware (e.g., Kafka, Solace, RabbitMQ), and low-latency frameworks (e.g., LMAX Disruptor).
- Data Tier: Experience with high-performance databases (e.g., NoSQL, time-series databases like KDB+/TimescaleDB, or highly optimized relational databases).
Leadership & Domain Knowledge
- Experience: 10+ years of software engineering experience in capital markets, investment banking, or fintech, with at least 3+ years in a team lead or management capacity.
- Financial Domain: Strong understanding of financial instruments (Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, or FX) and market structures (order books, matching engines, compliance checking).
