About the role

We are looking for a Senior Finance Advisor to join our Commercial Finance Business Partnering team in Rio Tinto’s Commercial Hub in Singapore. This role is a great opportunity for an experienced finance professional with the passion and desire to drive planning and performance management at a large, dynamic and complex business, with proven engagement and influencing skills and highly demonstrated ability to run financial analysis and to identify opportunities to deliver results.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Commercial Finance Business Partner, we are looking for an enthusiastic and curious individual to:

Partner with the business to drive performance

• Prepare and report month-end performance evaluations including actionable insights into financial performance, through production of a wide range of insightful analysis.
• Enable leaders to hold the business to account through performance measurement and supporting discussions with VP and General Managers on revenue, product margins, P&L and trade working capital.
• Provide insights and support initiatives to improve trade working capital.
• Support decision making through working with Sales & Operational Planning on analysis of trade-off decisions.
• Strong collaboration across Commercial, Operations, Risk and other stakeholders to support the business, including being the key conduit to other parts of the Finance function.
• Identify opportunities and risks through analysis and modelling, and pro-actively make recommendations.
• Constantly drive to automate and streamline processes and challenge or improve the existing ways of doing things.

Contribute to the development of business strategy and planning

• Influence senior management in shaping commercial strategies and priorities.
• Preparing annual business/financial plan and forecasts through understanding of key markets and value drivers.
• Partner with the business to collaborate and support new activities.
• Support planning of headcount and costs.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: 

• Bachelor and/or professional qualification e.g., MBA, ACA, CPA.
• 8 years + significant finance and commercial experience within a global organisation.
• Experience effectively managing and influencing a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and logical skills to contribute and support strategic and forward thinking.
• A deep-seated curiosity and willingness to learn about the business and partner with stakeholders
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with capacity to work autonomously.
• Expertise across a full range of standard business and finance tools (SAP, PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI, etc.)
• Strong capability to effectively prioritise and possess excellent organisational skills.

It will also be beneficial if you have:

• Experience working with Rio Tinto’s finance processes and systems (e.g. SAP).
• Mandarin language skills would be advantageous, as the role involves frequent interaction with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders.
