As an industry-leading e-commerce company specializing in HVAC, plumbing, heating, and electrical supplies since 2004, we strive to foster growth while providing the best possible experience for our customers.

We are looking for a Technical Product Manager - AI to join our Product, Systems, and Insights Team. This individual will report into our Senior Director, PSI and will own the strategy and execution of AI-driven technology initiatives across the business. You will partner closely with developers and business stakeholders to discover, define, and ship AI solutions that create measurable value. If you are interested in both strategic vision and hands-on execution, we want to hear from you!

This remote position is open to individuals who live in, or are open to relocating to, the following states: Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.

This position requires travel to our headquarters in Melville, NY 6 times per year for internal meetings and team building activities. We reimburse reasonable and necessary travel expenses, and you’re also welcome to work on-site anytime beyond these visits – our doors are always open.

Role Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Location: Remote

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with time zone flexibility

Base Salary: The expected starting salary for the position is $121,971 to $152,464 within a full position range of $121,971 to $182,956 annually. This range reflects the long-term earning potential for the role. Our starting pay practice is the minimum to middle portion of the range, depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity, consistent with applicable law and it is rare for a new hire to start above the midpoint.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and own the AI product roadmap, spanning customer-facing features (search & discovery, personalization, recommendations, and agentic self-service) and internal tools (RAG-based co-pilots, content generation, workflow automation, and decision support systems)
  • Partner with developers to scope, architect, and deliver AI solutions, from proof of concept through production deployment
  • Lead discovery: identify high-value AI opportunities by engaging with customers, business teams, and data; translate findings into clear problem statements and testable hypotheses
  • Write detailed requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria in JIRA and Confluence with sufficient technical depth for AI/ML development
  • Design and manage experiments and A/B tests to evaluate AI feature performance; analyze results and drive iteration
  • Act as translator between business stakeholders and technical teams, articulating AI capabilities and limitations in business terms, and framing business goals in technically actionable ways
  • Monitor AI product performance post-launch; define and track relevant metrics (accuracy, engagement, conversion, latency, etc.) and respond to regressions or emerging opportunities
  • Champion responsible AI practices across all initiatives, including data privacy, model fairness, security, and quality standards
  • Enable internal adoption of AI tools by developing documentation, playbooks, training materials, and demos for business teams
  • Stay current on the AI/ML and bring actionable insights back to the roadmap

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5–8 years of product management experience, with at least 2 years leading AI/ML or data-driven product initiatives
  • Product Management experience specifically within an ecommerce setting strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of modern AI/ML approaches: large language models and prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic workflows, recommendation systems, search/ranking, and personalization
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with data science and ML engineering teams to ship production-ready AI features
  • Technical fluency sufficient to read API documentation, understand data schemas and model architecture tradeoffs, and engage meaningfully in system design discussions
  • Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, and agile/scrum methodologies
  • Strong analytical skills; comfortable defining success metrics, designing experiments, and interpreting quantitative results
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, able to align executives, engineers, and business partners around a shared vision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with LLM evaluation, prompt design, and AI quality assessment is a plus
  • CSPO, SAFe POPM, or relevant AI/ML certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Machine Learning, Google Professional ML Engineer, or similar)
