Junior Estimator

Erwin Electric, Inc. is an established electrical company, with an excellent reputation in the electrical contracting community since 1997. We are a W/MBE and DBE-certified electrical contracting corporation experienced in commercial, industrial, residential, and government work. Erwin Electric, Inc. is currently seeking Commercial Electricians in the Sarasota Area. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist the Chief Estimator and estimating team in preparing accurate, competitive electrical bids.
• Review plans, specifications, and addenda to identify electrical scope and project requirements.
• Perform electrical quantity takeoffs and enter material and labor information into Accubid or similar estimating software.
• Request, organize, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotes, helping identify missing scope and pricing discrepancies.
• Help prepare bid packages, including scope descriptions, inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications, for review by the Chief Estimator.
• Track drawing revisions, addenda, quote requests, and bid deadlines.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site walkthroughs to understand existing conditions and project logistics.
• Keep project files, vendor contacts, and pricing history organized and up to date.
• Assist with project handoff by organizing estimate information and communicating scope and assumptions.
• Work with the team to identify potential cost-saving alternatives for review.
• Develop relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and general contractors, and participate in local industry events as needed.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of relevant experience; entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a willingness to learn.
• Comfortable working with numbers, basic math, measurements, and drawing scales.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and an ability to learn estimating software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with construction drawings, particularly electrical plans, is a plus.
• Electrical field experience, construction experience, or exposure to Accubid is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Supply Chain, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a highly analytical field (Finance/Economics with a passion for construction).
