About Our Client

Our client is a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm based in Edmonton, delivering projects for public and private sector clients across Western Canada. They are known for technical quality and a collaborative, team-oriented culture where people work closely across disciplines. This is a chance to play a central role in how the firm wins new work, with your writing directly shaping the projects they take on.

Key Responsibilities

As the Proposal Writer, you will lead the development of accurate, compliant and persuasive proposals that help the firm win new business.

Proposal Development

• Plan, draft, edit and submit proposals and bid responses for RFPs, RFQs and tenders on time.
• Write executive summaries, cover letters and technical sections that clearly show the firm's value to each client.

Compliance and Coordination

• Review each RFP to map out mandatory requirements, evaluation criteria and formatting rules.
• Track submission deadlines, manage requirements matrices and lead progress reviews with the team throughout each bid.

Collaboration

• Work closely with project managers and technical experts to gather, validate and integrate project information.
• Draw on past submissions, project databases, cost history and staff resumes to build strong, consistent responses.

Content and Visual Presentation

• Maintain and improve the proposal content library, boilerplate text and response templates.
• Create or coordinate photos, graphics, charts and tables that make submissions clear and easy to read.

Administrative Support

• Provide occasional backup support to the administrative team during vacations and absences.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:

Education & Experience:

• Formal training in writing, communications or a related field is preferred.
• Two to five years of experience in proposal development, technical writing, business communications or marketing.
• Experience in construction, engineering, technology, healthcare or government contracting is an asset.

Technical Skills:

• Advanced skills in word processing and presentation software.
• Experience using graphics programs to assemble polished documents with photos and visuals.
• Familiarity with proposal associations or content management systems is highly desirable.

Key Competencies:

• Exceptional writing skills with the ability to be clear, concise and persuasive.
• Strong organization and time management, with the ability to balance several deadlines at once.
• Meticulous attention to detail, particularly around compliance and quality checks.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.

 Additional Information:

• The role offers a salary of $65,000 to $85,000 depending on experience.
• Compressed schedule with four 8.5 hour days and a 2:00 pm finish on Fridays, flexible start times between 7:00 and 9:00 am.
• Optional health benefits plan with half the premiums paid by the employer, and an RRSP matching program.
