Software Engineer
Wotton under Edge
up to £42,000 depending on experience
Hybrid (2 office based days per week)
Renishaw is a global leader in the design and development of inspection probe technology and metrology systems. Due to organisational growth, we are recruiting a Software Engineer to join the laser and calibration products division (LCPD) at our HQ in Wotton-under-Edge.
You may be a recent graduate or an engineer with a few years’ experience wishing to develop your career. You'll be part of our laser and calibration software team, working with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices and collaborative software engineering
tools. You'll be given the chance to impart your knowledge and be part of a small team of engineers, interfacing with new product, current product and manufacturing teams where necessary. Our software is principally developed using .NET technologies, including .NET WPF desktop applications (C#, XAML) and .NET MAUI mobile applications.
You'll contribute to both customer-facing software and internal engineering applications, gaining domain knowledge while developing your technical capability in a structured and supportive environment.
Our products and services are used in applications as diverse as the automotive and aerospace industries to military and consumer electronics.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain features for desktop (WPF) and mobile (MAUI) applications.
Contribute to both customer-facing applications and internal engineering tools.
Implement unit, behavioural and UI tests in line with established practices.
Applies established patterns (e.g. MVVM), coding standards, and team processes.
Participate in code review and design discussions (supporting more senior engineers)
Work closely with colleagues in a multi-disciplinary team, seeking guidance where required
Collaborate as part of an Agile software team, contributing to sprint activities
Understand requirements and implement defined solutions using established approaches and guidance from senior engineers, project and product managers
Key Requirements
Degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Maths, Electronics Engineering, or similar discipline (or demonstrable equivalent experience)
Working knowledge of C# and .NET and Object-oriented software design - in particular MVVM and design patterns
Understanding of software development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment and
maintenance) and version control systems (e.g. Git)
Ability to follow established development processes and guidelines, communicate effectively with colleagues across different job functions and produce clear, concise technical documentation
